This season was a topsy turvy, up-down roller coaster ride for the Phillies. When things were going well Phillies fans were loud in support, in down times notoriously negative - just like every fan base anywhere in the MLB spectrum. The team proved resilient - emerging from the struggles to secure their fifth straight playoff appearance. Short of the ultimate goal of winning the World Series it’s been a very productive run. As expected the Phillies have added infielder Aidan Miller to the roster of the Surprise Saguaros. With various reports raising the inference that since minor league home run totals were up this season the baseball has been altered I thought I’d dig a little deeper into the data. What I discovered is that indeed home run tallies are higher this season but the prior two seasons were remarkably low - I pulled data for six consecutive years - 2026 aligns closer to years 2021 to 2023.
