1/24/2021 : Winter League Recap


Australia :


Melbourne :


Chris Burke hit his second home run of the season for Melbourne however the Aces lost to Brisbane 6-5. Former Phillie Delmon Young pitched the top of the ninth inning for Melbourne allowing no runs, no hits and two walks. The 35 year old outfielder and DH played for the Phillies in 2013.


Adelaide :

Rough outings for the Adelaide Giants as they lost both ends of a doubleheader to the Perth Heat by counts of 11-6 and 15-6.


In game one Taylor Lehman was touched for 4 runs in 5 hits in one inning of work. Luke Williams had two hits for the Giants as did Corneluis Randolph ( including a double ). Colby Fitch and Kendall Simmons each singled.


In game two Tyler Burch had a rough go yielding four runs on three hits and a walk in 1/3 IP. Rixon Wingrove had two hits including his 5th home run of the season. Colby Fitch and Kendall Simmons each singled in game two as well.


Outfielder Jordan McArdle pitched 1 1/3 innings in game one ( 0 R, 1 H) and two perfect innings in game two. Jordan was a 2020 spring training minor league camp invitee with the Phillies.


Puerto Rico :


Caguas took a 3-0 lead in the best of seven championship series over Mayaguez with a 7-3 victory in game three.


Venezuela :


Caribes scored the game’s only run in the top of the 11th inning to prevail 1-0 in game two of their seven game series with Lara. They lead the series 2-0. Former Phillies minor leaguer Ali Castillo had two hits and scored the run.
