4/19/21 : Game Seventeen

Game Summary : Giants 10 Phillies 7


Nick Maton doubled to score Mickey Moniak ( singled ) in the second inning.


Brad Miller hit a three run home run in the third inning scoring Bryce Harper and JT Realmuto ( both singled ) in front of him.


Buster Posey led off the fifth inning with a home run for San Francisco. Tommy La Stella hit a two run home run later in the inning scoring Darin Ruf ( walked ) ahead of him.


Alec Bohm homered in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring Bryce Harper ( walked ) in front of him.


Buster Posey hit another solo home run in the sixth inning.


Alex Dickerson hit a three run homer for the Giants in the eighth inning. Wilmer Flores hit a pinch hit three run homer in the same inning.


Rhys Hoskins hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.


On The Hill :


Zack Wheeler ( FB 96-98 ) went 5 2/3 innings - 4 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K’s - 105 pitches - 66 strikes. Threw a bunch of effective cutters/sliders in the game.


Sam Coonrad ( FB 97-100 ) retired all four batters he faced in 1 1/3 IP. 🔥


Connor Brogdon ( FB 95-97 ) yielded 6 runs on 5 hits and a walk in 2/3 IP. Just didn’t have command this evening ... his first bad outing in forever.


Ramon Rosso ( FB 93-94 ) recorded the last out of the eighth inning. Ramon also pitched a scoreless ninth inning.


At The Plate :


Bryce Harper singled twice and walked twice in five plate appearances. JT Realmuto and Matt Joyce each singled and walked.

Home Run : Brad Miller, Alec Bohm, Rhys Hoskins


Defensive Gems :


Center Fielder Mickey Moniak made a great diving catch in left center field to record the first out of the game.


Shortstop Nick Maton made a diving stop on a grounder up the middle and flip to second base to record the final out of the fifth inning.


Second Baseman Brad Miller made a diving stop on a hard hit grounder in the eighth inning and threw to second base for the second out of the inning.


Notes :


Jean Segura left the game in the second inning after suffering a right quad strain running to first base on a ground ball he hit. He will be further evaluated tomorrow.


Record is now 8-9
