5/16/21 : Minor League Roundup


Triple A East League - Scranton Wilkes Barre 3 ( 9-3 ) Lehigh Valley 1 (7-5 )


Summary :


Scranton scored in the fourth inning on a Chris Gittens solo home run. The Iron Pigs tied the score in the fifth inning as DH Cornelius Randolph singled, went to third on an errant pickoff attempt and scored on a wild pitch.


Scranton scored the game’s final runs in the sixth inning on a bases loaded walk followed by a bases loaded HBP.


On The Hill :


RH Spencer Howard - 4 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s - had a dominant fast ball by accounts of folks at the game - 58 pitches - 38 strikes


RH David Paulino - 1 IP, 2 R - 1 earned , 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 29 pitches - 19 strikes

RH Enyel De Los Santos - 2 IP - retired all 5 batters he faced - DP to end sixth - 2 K’s

Double A NorthEast League - Bowie 13 ( 9-2 ) Reading 12 ( 2-10 ) - 10 innings


Summary :


Bowie scored twice in their half of the first inning. Reading loaded the bases with three singles in the second inning and two bases loaded walks to score twice. They plated three more in the third inning on 1B Luke Miller’s three run home run.


Bowie scored four times in their third inning, included in the rally were three walks and a HBP. Reading scored single runs in the fourth and fifth frames. 2B Danny Brito had an RBI single in the fourth, 3B McCarthy Tatum hit a solo home run in the fifth.


Reading scored twice in the sixth ... CF Matt Vierling with an RBI sac fly and C Nick Matera an RBI single. Bowie tied the score with three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two run tater and then one on a passed ball.


SS Arquimedes Gamboa hit a three run home run in the top of the tenth inning but Bowie plated four in their half of the tenth with a three run bases loaded double being the walk off game winner 🤪.


On The Hill :

Summary :


Wilmington took the early lead with a single run in the second inning. Jersey Shore score three in the third inning highlighted by a two run home run by DH Logan O’Hoppe. The Blue Claws scored three more in the fifth inning as 2B Cole Stobbe hit a solo home run and C Herbert Iser stroked a two run single.


Wilmington won the game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. They homered, doubled and then got a walk off single in the inning to prevail.

Mick Abel popped the radar at 99 mph on a few of his fastball deliveries. His range was 94 to 99 ... sat at 96 generally. The young man has the goods with the velo, also threw a slider, change up and curve ball today.
