Florida Complex League :
Blue Jays 7 ( 5-2 ) Phillies 3 ( 5-2 )
@ Blue Jays Complex - Dunedin, FL
Forty man roster pitcher Jo Jo Romero made his first “official” rehab appearance today - he pitched the first inning and struck out all three batters he faced. He’s previously pitched an inning in a couple Extended Spring Training games and we’ve seen him in multiple live bullpen sessions. The velocity today was consistent at 95-96 mph - so far it’s very promising how he’s bounced back from TJ surgery incurred a little over a year ago.
The Jays scored three runs in the second inning against another fella coming back from TJ - 21 year old RH Starlyn Castillo. He pitched two innings today. LH Christopher Soriano threw two hitless frames allowing just a walk. RH Albertus Barber ( also returning from TJ surgery ) pitched two scoreless innings striking out five batters and allowing just one hit.
Albert Rodriquez walked, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch in the 8th inning, he then scored on a sacrifice fly ball off the bat of Jordan Viars. Oscar Gonzalez then tied the game at three each with a solo home run.
The Blue Jays scored four runs in the bottom of the 8th on a hit batter, three singles and a double.
Jordan Viars ( 18 yrs old ) doubled in the 6th inning and scored on two subsequent wild pitches.
Viars had two of the Phillies six hits in the game.
