A’s 3 ( 3-1 ) Angels 0 ( 1-3 )
Six Oakland hurlers combined to pitch a nine hit shutout and strike out twelve Angels batters including six of the last nine outs recorded ... Ex Phillie LH Jake Diekman was dominant as he struck out the side in the 8th inning.
A’s left fielder Mark Canha homered in the fourth inning and had two hits. Third Baseman Matt Chapman had three hits including a double.
Second Baseman Tommy La Stella had two hits for the Angels.
Padres 6 ( 3-1 ) Diamondbacks 2 ( 1-3 )
Shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Padres offense ... Center Fielder Trent Grisham hit a two run home run. Four San Diego relievers pitched a combined 5 1/3 innings of one hit shutout baseball with RH Luis Perdomo going two frames.
D-Backs starter RH Luke Weaver was touched for six runs on seven hits and two walks in 3 1/3 IP ... Center Fielder Starling Marte had two hits including a double.
Blue Jays 4 ( 2-2 ) Nationals 1 ( 1-3 )
Jays Center Fielder Teoscar Hernandez hit two home runs and scored twice replacing Bo Bichette ( hamstring ) who was a late scratch in the starting lineup. Rowdy Tellez and Danny Jansen also homered for Toronto/Buffalo.
Four Nationals had two hits apiece led by Catcher Kurt Suzuki who had their sole extra base hit - a double.
Rays 14 ( 3-1 ) Braves 5 ( 2-2 )
Tampa scored eight runs in the fourth inning and never looked back enroute to the one sided victory. Right Fielder Hunter Renfro pounded two home runs and had three hits and four RBIs to lead the charge. Joey ( West Chester U ) Wendle also homered and had two knocks. Brandon Lowe doubled and tripled.
Rays starter RH Tyler Glasnow struck out nine batters in four innings as he popped the mitt consistently near or in the triple digits 😳.
Matt Adams hit a three run homer for Atlanta and Dansby Swanson also homered.
Royals 12 ( 2-2 ) Tigers 6 ( 2-2 )
KC Third Baseman Maikel Franco had three hits including two home runs and drove in four runs. Second Baseman Whit Merrifield also had three hits including a double and home run with three RBIs while scoring three times out of the leadoff spot.
Center Fielder JaCoby Jones had two hits ( including a home run ) and three RBIs for Detroit.
Mets 7 ( 2-2 ) Red Sox 4 ( 1-3 )
Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso each hit two run home runs for the Mets. Dominic Smith rounded out New York’s scoring with a three run home run. RHP Michael Wacha impressed in his Mets debut by tossing five innings allowing one run on five hits and one walk - he was consistently in the mid nineties with the fast ball.
First Baseman Mitch Moreland had two hits including a home run for Boston.
Astros 8 ( 3-1 ) Mariners 5 ( 1-3 )
Third Baseman Alex Bregman hit a three run home run and scored twice for Houston. Jose Altuve also homered and hit a home run and Michael Brantley had a two hit game.
Seattle First Baseman Evan White hit a two run home run.
Cubs 8 ( 3-1 ) Reds 7 ( 1-3 )
The Cubs jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held on thereafter for the win. Starting pitcher LH Jon Lester went five no hit- no run innings allowing just a walk ... he registered only one strikeout and had great command ... conversely closer RH Craig Kimbrel struggled and walked four batters and hit another in one third of an inning.
Catcher Tyler Stephenson hit a two run home run for Cincinatti and had two hits ... Joey Votto also had two hits for the Reds.
Brewers 6 ( 2-2 ) Pirates 5 ( 1-3 ) - 11 Innings
Ryan Braun produced a game tying two run double in the top of the ninth inning with two outs and the Brewers scored four times in their last at bat to send the game into extra innings. They then scored in the top of the 11th as Eric Sogard doubled for the game winning RBI.
Three Brewers had two hit games ( Lorenzo Cain, Keston Hiura and Avisail Garcia ).
Pirates Third Baseman Colin Moran hit two solo home runs ... he had half of their four hits.
Brewers RHP David Phelps picked up the win with two perfect innings of relief in the extra innings ... he struck out three of the six batters he faced.
