There have been 332 games played so far in this strangest of seasons ... here are some statistical facts that perhaps you weren’t aware of 🤔or maybe didn’t care to know 🥴.
Twenty shutouts ( 6 percent of games played ) have been thrown to date with the Indians leading the way with three while four clubs ( Cubs, Marlins, Brewers and Twins ) have two apiece. Last season there were 268 shutouts in the 4,858 games played ( 5.5 percent ) ... that’s a bit surprising to me as it seemed that the pace for shutouts was far greater this season ... in reality it’s just slightly above last year’s pace 😳. There were 312 shutouts in 2018 ( 6 percent of games played ) and 259 ( 5.3 percent ) in 2017 🧐.
Love the long ball ? This season 396 homers have been hit ( an average of 1.19 per game ). So taters are down on average from last season so far even though August is hitting season ... but still well above the last ten year average ...
