1/10/26 : Winter League Roundup

Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues from games played on 1/9 and 1/10 (Australia). Current Phillies bolded and underlined.

Dominican Winter League :   Round Robin Playoff Tournament :

Leones del Escogido 7 (8-3) Gigantes del Cibao 6 (1 -10) - ten innings - RHP Hector Neris (1 BB) pitched a scoreless inning for the Leones. Johan Rojas (CF) was 0 for 4 for the Gigantes.

Aguilas Cibaenas 3 (6-5) Toros del Este 1 (7-4) - Bryan De La Cruz (RF) went 0 for 3 with two walks for the Toros. RHP Jonathan Hernandez pitched a scoreless inning (1 H - 17 pitches - 9 strikes) for the Aguilas.

Mexican Winter League :  playoffs :

Tomateros de Culiacán 3 (4-3) Cañeros de Los Mochis 0 (3-4) - the Tomateros win the series - LHP Anthony Gose closed out the win with a scoreless inning (1 H, 1 BB) for the Tomateros.

The Tomateros de Culiacán now meet the Algodoneros de Guasave while the Charros de Jalisco play the Águilas de Mexicali in the semi-finals - both series begin on Monday 1/12/26.

Venezuela Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :

Caribes de Anzoategui 10 (2-2) Navegantes del Magallanes 4 (0-3) - Herlis Rodriquez (CF) and Aldrem Corredor (1B) were each 2 for 5 (single & double) for the Caribes.

Cardenales de Lara 13 (3-0) Bravos de Margarita 6 (1-2) - Willians Astudillo (1B) went 2 for 5 (singles) for the Cardenales. Wilson Garcia (DH) homered for the Bravos.

Puerto Rico Winter League :  League Playoffs :

Cangrejeros de Santurce 6 (4-2) Criollos de Caguas 1 (2-4) - 13 innings - Santurce wins the series - RHP Andrew Baker pitched 2/3 of an inning (0 R, 1 H, 1 K) for Santurce. RHP Yacksel Rios pitched two scoreless frames (2 H, 2 BB) for the Criollos.

Leones de Ponce 4 (4-2) Gigantes de Carolina 3 (2-4) - Ponce wins the series

The Cangrejeros de Santurce now meet the Leones de Ponce in the league championship series beginning on Tuesday 1/13/26. The last time Santurce and Ponce faced each other in a Final Series was in 1972-73.

Australian Baseball League :

Doubleheader :

Game One : Adelaide Giants 9 (16-17) Brisbane Bandits 2 (14-20) - Raylin Heredia(LF) went 4 for 4 (two singles, double, HR) with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Giants - Robbie Glendinning (RF) and Mitchell Edwards (C) each had two hits, Glendinning homered. Nick Ward (2B) hit a three run home run. Devin Saltiban (CF) and Alirio Ferrebus (1B) each had hits, Ferrebus singled, Saltiban doubled. Jose Colmenares(SS) homered - he hit five home runs in the series. RHP Giuseppe Velasquez pitched five innings (2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 68 pitches - 44 strikes) for Adelaide.

Game Two : Adelaide Giants 6 (17-17) Brisbane Bandits 5 (14-21) - Manolfi Jimenez(LF) went 3 for 3 (double, two home runs) with five RBIs and three runs scored, Nick Ward (2B) was 2 for 5 (single & double) while Alirio Ferrebus (C) and Robbie Glendinning (3B) each hit singles for the Giants. Ferrebus also walked and scored twice - Jose Colmenares(SS) and Mitchell Edwards (DH) each drew two walks. LHP Josh Hendrickson pitched five innings (2 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 8 K’s) and RHP Danyony Pulido went 1.2 innings (0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 23 pitches - 15 strikes) to close out the win.
