Back in November I went on a search mission to find minor league free agent pitchers who displayed big arm potential. One of those pitchers was Aneurys Zabala. Coincidentally on December 31st the Phillies inked the 24 year old to a minor league contract.
Here’s what I wrote about him in November ...
Aneurys Zabala - 24 year old RHP ( 6’3” 259 ) - has reached 101 MPH with his fastball ... has battled control/command throughout his career. He was originally signed by the Mariners in 2014 as an amateur free agent. Was traded to the Dodgers in 2017 and from the Dodgers to the Reds in 2018. He’s consistently in the upper 90’s with his fastball but just hasn’t mastered how to use it ... with perhaps the right coaching could be a Diamond in the rough ...

Aneurys has been temporarily placed on the Clearwater Threshers roster ... he pitched for Daytona in the Florida State League in 2019.
