Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues from games played on 1/15 and 1/16 (Australia).Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Aguilas Cibaenas 5 (9-7) Gigantes del Cibao 4 (2 -14)
Toros del Este 8 (10-6) Leones del Escogido 5 (11-5) - Yairo Munoz (2B) went 2 for 4 (triple & HR) with five RBIs and a run scored for the Toros. RHP Hector Neris pitched a scoreless inning (1 H, 1 K) for the Leones.
Mexican Winter League : playoffs :
Tomateros de Culiacán 8 (4-0) Algodoneros de Guasave 1 (0-4) - Joey Meneses (1B) was 1 for 3 (single) with two walks and an RBI for the Tomateros who now advance to the Championship series.
Charros de Jalisco 4 (3-1) Águilas de Mexicali 2 (1-3) - RHP Fernando Lozano pitched 1.1 innings (1 R, 1 H) for the Aguilas in relief.
Venezuela Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Navegantes del Magallanes 10 (3-5) Aguilas del Zulia 4 (4-4) - Simon Muzziotti (DH) went 1 for 5 (single) with an RBI for the Aguilas.
Cardenales de Lara 9 (6-2) Bravos de Margarita 5 (2-6) - RHP Ulises Joaquin pitched a perfect inning in relief for the Bravos.
Puerto Rico Winter League : League Championship Series :
Cangrejeros de Santurce 6 (3-0) Leones de Ponce 3 (0-3) - RHP Andrew Bakerpitched two perfect innings (2 K’s) to earn the W for Santurce. Jesmuel Valentin (2B) was 4 for 5 (singles) for the Leones.
Australian Baseball League :
Adelaide Giants 4 (19-17) Perth Heat 0 (15-21) - Adelaide clinched a spot in the championship series with the win. LHP Camron Hill and RHP Danyony Pulido each pitched a perfect inning in relief while starter LHP Josh Hendrickson pitched six innings (4 H, 0 BB, 7 K’s) for the Giants. Robbie Glendinning (3B) was 2 for 4 (singles) with an RBI. Nick Ward (2B) was 1 for 2 (single) with two walks and a run scored. Jose Colmenares (SS) went 1 for 3 (triple) with a walk, two RBIs and a run scored. Devin Saltiban (CF), Raylin Heredia (RF) and Manolfi Jimenez (LF) each had a hit (singles), Salitban had an RBI. Alirio Ferrebus caught the game and went 0 for 3 at the plate. There are three games remaining in the series which concludes the regular season.
Sydney Blue Sox 6 (24-13) Brisbane Bandits 4 (15-22) - Rixon Wingrove (1B) went 2 for 4 (singles) with a run scored for Brisbane. There are two games remaining in the series which concludes the regular season - Sydney then will advance to the championship series.
