Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues from games played on 1/17 and 1/18 (Australia). Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Toros del Este 6 (11-7) Gigantes del Cibao 5 (2 -16) - Yairo Munoz (2B) went 2 for 4 (singles) with a run scored for the Toros while Bryan De La Cruz (RF) was 1 for 5 with a single.
Aguilas Cibaenas (10-7) Leones del Escogido (12-5) - ppd till 1/18 - rain
Venezuela Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Caribes de Anzoategui 8 (6-4) Aguilas del Zulia 1 (5-5)- Herlis Rodriquez (CF) went 2 for 3 (single & HR) with two walks, two runs scored and an RBI for the Caribes.
Navegantes del Magallanes 10 (4-6) Cardenales de Lara 9 (6-3) - ten innings - Willians Astudillo (1B) went 2 for 4 (singles) for the Cardenales.
Australian Baseball League :
Perth Heat 2 (18-21) Adelaide Giants 0 (19-20) - final regular season game - LHP Camron Hillpitched two perfect innings (4 K’s - 28 pitches - 18 strikes) and RHP Danyony Pulido threw a scoreless inning (1 H, 1 K - 15 pitches - 10 strikes) for the Giants. Jose Colmenares (SS) was 2 for 4 (singles) while Nick Ward (2B) was 1 for 2 (single) with a walk. Manolfi Jimenez (CF) was 0 for 2 with a walk and Raylin Heredia (LF) went 0 for 3.
The game was the final home appearance in Adelaide for Nick Ward while Heat veteran Tim Kennellyplayed the last game of his ABL career. Both are former Phillies minor leaguers. Ward is hopeful of landing a stateside coaching job with an organization.
The league championship series between Adelaide and Sydney will be a best of three match slated for 1/23 to 1/25 hosted by Sydney.
