Pitchers who threw side sessions last Friday were back on the hill today on the seven mounds - the group included Alex McFarlane, Enrique Segura, Griff McGarry, Danyony Pulido, Ethan Chenault, Eli Trop, Titan Hayes, Zack Tukis, Camron Hill, Marcus Morgan, Kyler Carmack, Luis Avila, Erik Ritchie, Ryan Dromboski, Ryan Degges, AJ Wilson, Erubiel Armenta, Kevin Warunek and Angel Liranzo.
Some notations from my observations this morning - RH Griff McGarry had a quick tempo and more zip on his deliveries than others - he’s been working at Cressy Sports for a couple months so it makes sense that he would be a but further along by comparison. I watched RH Danyony Pulido during his whole session - big frame who pops the mitt with easy mechanics - big arm capabilities, always enjoy watching him work, has good stuff. Today was the first time I honed in on RH Zack Tukis - he comes from a three-quarter arm slot and gets good extension, saw a lot of arm side run today with zip, noted as a big arm as well. Of course it’s January and only the second sessions for each in Camp - I was also watching from beyond the public gates and not directly behind the mounds, from that vantage point liked what I saw with all factors considered. Good stuff.
Other Notes :
Former Phillies catcher Andrew Knapp announced his retirement from baseball as a player on his instagram account. Andrew was not the most talented receiver during his career but he certainly had intangibles that made him a valuable player to have on the roster, his work ethic and ability to be a team presence stood out.
Phantasy Camp :
The Phantasy Camp banner has been posted on the complex front building along with food and event tents as staffers prepare the area for the annual arrival of camp participants. Games begin on Thursday.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
