1/23/2021 : Winter League Recap

Australia :

Luke Williams had a three hit game and Kendall Simmons delivered a two run single with the bases loaded for Adelaide however the Perth Heat scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two run home run for a walkoff 4-2 victory.

Austin Ross pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts allowing two hits. Simmons made a standout defensive play at second base to end the seventh inning snagging a line drive.

Former Phillies minor leaguer Aaron Brown picked up the win for Brisbane by tossing two scoreless frames ( 5 K’s, 2 H) in their 3-2 victory over Melbourne. Luke Leftwich pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief for Melbourne ( 1 R, 2 H, 3 K’s ).

Puerto Rico :

Caguas defeated Mayaguez 7-5 to go up 2 games to none in the league championship series. Yadier Molina had two hits and scored twice for Caguas.

Venezuela :

Caribes won 6-0 over Lara in game one of the league championship series. Former Phillies minor league outfielder Herlis Rodriguez had two hits including a double, scored a run and had an RBI for Caribes.
