Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues.
Australian Winter League :
1/23/25 action : the league playoffs began with two best of three semi-final series.
Former Phillies minor league LHP Lachlan Wells was brilliant going nine innings for the Adelaide Giants (2 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 9 K’s - 91 pitches - 72 strikes). After being touched for a two run home run in the second inning he retired the next 23 batters he faced in order 👀😳. It wasn’t enough however as four Perth Heat hurlers held Adelaide to just one run leading them to victory over the Giants 2-1 in game one of the series. Former Phillies minor league first baseman Rixon Wingrove was 2 for 3 (single and double) for the Giants and Diego Gonzalez had a pinch hit single in the ninth inning. Lou Albrecht caught the entire game for Adelaide (0 for 4) and Nikau Pouaka-Grego played second base (0-3). Former Phillies minor leaguer Nick Ward (3B) was 1 for 4 with a single and walk.
In the other semi-final series the Canberra Calvery scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to post a comeback 3-2 win over the Sydney Blue Sox.
Venezuela Winter League :
1/23/25 action : the Cardenales de Lara defeated the Bravos de Margarita 8-2 in game four of the championship series to tie the matchup at two wins each.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
1/23/25 action : scheduled off day.
Dominican Winter League :
1/23/25 action : scheduled off day.
Mexican Pacific League :
1/23/25 action : scheduled off day.
Colombia Winter League :
The season is complete - the Caimanes de Barranquilla were crowned champions.
Nicaragua Winter League :
The season is complete - the Leones de Leon were crowned champions.
Panama Winter League :
The season is complete - the Águilas Metropolitanas were crowned champions.
