Dominican League :
RHP Tyler Cyr is pitching for Gigantes del Cibao. He’s pitched in 10 games thus far posting a 1.08 ERA in 8 1/3 innings with 14 strikeouts and 5 walks. He was signed as a free agent by the Phillies from the Giants organization and is a veteran of six minor league seasons in which he has posted a 2.99 ERA over 179 games. He’s got a big arm - FB generally sits 96-97 mph, has touched 99 and his off speed deliveries are a slider, cutter and occasional change up.
Infielder Johan Camargo played in 9 games for Aguilas Cibaenas accumulating 40 plate appearances and recorded 13 hits posting a .361 batting average and a .461 on base percentage. He was signed by the Phillies on December 1st from the Atlanta Braves organization. He’s played in 364 major league games with the Braves.
RHP Yoan Lopez pitched in 3 games for Aguilas Cibaenas - just 2 1/3 innings - he allowed no runs. The Phillies claimed Lopez on November 29th off waivers from the Braves. He’s pitched in 113 major league games - all with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Infielder Jonathan Guzman and outfielder Jhailyn Ortiz each played briefly for Leones del Escogido. Infielder Wendel Rijo played in 15 games for Toros del Este. The Phillies signed him to a minor league contract on December 10th from the Atlanta Braves organization.
LHP Christopher Sanchez pitched in 11 games for Toros del Este accumulating 13 innings posting a 4.85 ERA. Only one of the appearances was a start. He struck out 13 batters and issued 6 walks.
Venezuelan League :
Infielder Ali Castillo played in 45 games for Aguilas del Zulia. He hit .314 with a .368 OBP in 206 plate appearances with 7 doubles, a triple, 2 homers and 19 RBIs. He was signed by the Phillies on December 8th as a minor league free agent from the Nationals organization. He was with the Phillies in 2019 and played at Reading and Lehigh Valley. Outfielder Simon Muzziotti played in five games for Aguilas del Zulia.
RHP Carlos Betancourt pitched in 8 games for Aguilas del Zulia. He posted a 3.50 ERA in 18 innings making two starts - struck out 14 batters but walked 12. RHP Elberson Castellano pitched in five games for Aguilas.
C Rafael Marchan played in 4 games for Tiburones de La Guaira. RHP Jean Cabrera pitched in five games for them.
Puerto Rico League :
Outfielder Jadiel Sanchez played in 19 games for RA12. He amassed 75 plate appearances which was about 3/4 of the PA’s he got stateside during the 2021 season with the FCL Phillies and Clearwater Threshers due to a Covid shutdown. The 20 year old has some exciting tools so it’s great to see him make up for lost development time.
RHP Carlos Francisco pitched in 13 games for Indios de Mayaguez and recorded a very respectable 2.57 ERA in 14 IP with 14 K’s and 7 walks. LHP Gabriel Cotto made 5 appearances for Gigantes de Carolina.
Mexican League :
RHP Fernando Lozano made 9 appearances for Aguilas de Mexicali. He pitched 10 2/3 innings. LHP Jeff Singer pitched in 14 games for Naranjeros de Hermosillo and posted a 2.51 ERA in 14 1/3 innings with 12 K’s and 5 walks. RHP Manuel Urias appeared in 11 games for Caneros de Los Mochis pitching 19 innings, he struck out 15 batters and uncharacteristically walked nine batters.
