1/27/25 : Today at the Complex - Winter HP Camp - Day Eleven

I will cover Thursday, Friday and today’s work in this article. Strength and conditioning work continued for all camp participants.
Pitchers were back on the seven mounds this morning throwing side bullpens - participants included Tristan Garnett, Wesley Moore, Tommy McCollum, Luke Gabrysh, Jake Eddington, Alex McFarlane, Gunner Mayer, Aaron Combs, Andrew Schultz, Mavis Graves, Casey Steward and Micah Ottenbreit.
Fielders took infield and outfield practice on Carlton Field - infielders included Otto Kemp, Nolan Beltran (3B), Aidan Miller, Juan Villlavicencio, Carson DeMartini, Bryan Rincon (SS), Devin Saltiban, Aroon Escobar, Brady Day (2B) and Keaton Anthony (1B). Outfielders included Griffin Burkholder, Dante Nori, Dylan Campbell, TJayy Walton, Hendry Mendez, Leandro Pineda, Gabriel Rincones Jr, Joel Dragoo, Carter Mathison and John Spikerman.
Catchers caught pitchers in their bullpens and did blocking drills receiving balls from a machine - the group included Luke Davis, Kehden Hettiger, Jordan Dissin, Guillermo Rosario, Kodey Shojinaga, Caleb Ricketts, Alirio Ferrebus and Eduardo Tait.
Big Leaguers :
Jordan Romano threw a side bullpen to catcher Rafael Marchan. I watched from behind the screen - Romano’s off-speed has a quick darting action and on some of them it seemed to have the added deception of little to no spin - just a quick right to left drop - I believe it’s his slider - for January looked pretty good 🤓.
Arrivals :
RHP Jaydenn Estanista along with OF Dylan Campbell joined the group today as did RHP’s Konnor Ash and Cody Stashak.
1/24/25 : Day Ten of HP Camp
Pitchers threw their side bullpen sessions in Baycare Ballpark since Phantasy Camp took over the complex - the group included Alex McFarlane, Enrique Segura, Griff McGarry, Danyony Pulido, Ethan Chenault, Eli Trop, Titan Hayes, Zack Tukis, Camron Hill, Marcus Morgan, Kyler Carmack, Luis Avila, Erik Ritchie, Ryan Dromboski, Ryan Degges, AJ Wilson, Erubiel Armenta, Kevin Warunek and Angel Liranzo. Position players also did their throwing programs on the field in the stadium and then hit indoors.
1/23/25 : Day Nine of HP Camp
Pitchers threw their side bullpen sessions in Baycare Ballpark - the group included Tristan Garnett, Wesley Moore, Tommy McCollum, Luke Gabrysh, Jake Eddington, Gunner Mayer, Aaron Combs, Andrew Schultz, Mavis Graves, Casey Steward and Micah Ottenbreit. Position players also did their throwing programs on the field in the stadium and then hit indoors.
Phillies Phantasy Camp :
Phillies Phantasy Camp was held at the complex from 1/23 to 1/26 - in order to accommodate them the HP Camp participants shifted their workouts to the stadium field and bullpens in Baycare Ballpark. I watched the action at Phantasy Camp on Friday and Saturday, was able to reacquaint myself with multiple folks I’ve gotten to know a bit over the years either thru prior camps or my writing. This year’s championship team was coached by John Kruk and Dave Hollins as their crew defeated the team coached by Dickie Noles and Wes Chamberlain. From all the smiles I saw on people’s faces as I walked around it was evident that everyone had a fun and memorable time - that’s the true intent and takeaway from the annual event. 🤓
