Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in fall/winter leagues from games played on 1/2 and 1/3 (Australia). Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament : Johan Rojas (CF) was 1 for 5 (single) with a run scored for the Gigantes del Cibao (0-5) in a 8-7 ten inning loss to the Aguilas Cibaenas (2-3). RHP Aneurys Zabala pitched a perfect inning for the Leones del Escogido (5-0) in a 10-5 win over the Toros del Este (3-2).
Mexican Winter League : League Playoffs :
Naranjeros de Hermosillo 12 (1-1) Charros de Jalisco 0 (1-1) - RHP Orlando Gonzalez pitched a perfect inning (1 K) for the Naranjeros.
Águilas de Mexical 10 (2-0) Yaquis de Obregón 8 (0-2) - RHP Efrain Contreras pitched a scoreless inning (1 BB, 1 K) for the Yaquis.
Cañeros de Los Mochis 4 (1-1) Tomateros de Culiacán 3 (1-1) - Joey Meneses (1B) went 2 for 4 (single & double) and Luis Verdugo (SS) 2 for 4 (single & double) with two RBIs and a run scored for the Tomateros. LHP Anthony Gose pitched a perfect inning (2 K’s) in relief for Culiacan.
Algodoneros de Guasave 6 (2-0) Jaguares de Nayarit 4 (0-2) - Jorge Flores (SS) was 1 for 3 (single) with an RBI for the Algodoneros.
Venezuela Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament : Ali Castillo (1B) went 2 for 4 (singles) with a walk for the Aguilas del Zulia (1-0) in a 4-3 ten inning win against the Navegantes del Magallanes (0-1). Leandro Pineda (RF) was 1 for 2 (single) with a walk for the Navegantes. Aldrem Corredor (1B) went 4 for 5 (two singles, double, HR) with two RBIs and a run scored for the Caribes de Anzoategui (0-1) in a 6-5 loss to the Cardenales de Lara (1-0).
Puerto Rico Winter League : League Playoffs : RHP Yacksel Rios pitched a perfect inning (1 K) for the Criollos de Caguas (1-0) in a 2-1 win over the Cangrejeros de Santurce (0-1). Jan Hernandez (CF) went 2 for 5 (single & double) for the Gigantes de Carolina (1-0) in a 6-0 win against the Leones de Ponce (0-1).
Australian Baseball League :
Adelaide Giants 7 (14-15) Sydney Blue Sox 5 (19-11) - Devin Saltiban (CF) led the way for Adelaide going 2 for 5 (double & three run HR) with four RBIs and a run scored. Nick Ward (2B) was 3 for 4 (singles) with a walk and two runs scored. Robbie Glendinning (3B/RF) was 2 for 5 (singles) with an RBI and run scored. Alirio Ferrebus (C), Manolfi Jimenez (LF) and Jordan McArdle (DH) each had a single in the game. RHP Giuseppe Velasquez pitched six innings (5 R, 7 H, 4 BB, 7 K’s - 97 pitches - 65 strikes) and LHP Camron Hill was outstanding going two perfect innings in relief (3 K’s - 22 pitches - 14 strikes) while RHP Todd Van Steensel closed the win (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 K’s) for Adelaide.
