Free agent LHP Tucker Davidson has signed a minor league contract with the Phillies for the 2026 season per Will Sammon of The Athletic. Davidson reinforced the signing announcement via a posting on his instagram account.
The now twenty-nine year old pitched last season in Korea for the Lotte Giants where he posted a 10-5 record in 22 starts (123.1 IP) with a 3.65 ERA - 119 strikeouts and 48 walks. He was previously drafted and signed as their 19th round selection in the 2016 draft from Tascosa HS in Amarillo, Texas. In his stateside career he advanced to the major leagues in 2020 and has made 56 appearances in the show (17 starts) from 2020 to 2024 with Atlanta, the Los Angeles Angels, Kansas City and Baltimore. He’s pitched 129.1 major league innings with a 5.76 ERA - 100 K’s and 68 walks. In his minor league career he’s pitched in 148 games (104 starts) totaling 625.1 IP with a 3.28 ERA - 619 K’s and 228 walks.
Tucker was released by Lotte in August of 2025 when they signed former Phillies RHP Vince Velasquez. He then signed with the Milwaukee Brewers organization and finished the year with AAA level Nashville posting six starts (25 IP) with a 4.68 ERA - the Brewers released him on 10/12/25.
In an indoor bullpen session at Maven Baseball Lab (Atlanta, GA) this past December his fastball was sitting in the 93-95 mph range - he averaged 91 mph in Korea. He features a fastball, slider, curve and changeup. Presumably will be given the opportunity to be part of the starting rotation at AAA level Lehigh Valley and provide needed starting pitching depth for the organization.
From a fan’s view welcome to the Phillies Tucker!
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
