The Phillies have added RHP Jace Vines to their minor league roster, he announced his signing on Instagram in December. The 28 year old was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 4th round of the 2016 draft from Texas A&M University. In his minor league career he’s posted a 27-34 record with a 4.34 ERA in 136 games ( 67 starts ) with a 1.485 WHIP. In 472 1/3 IP he’s struck out 337 batters and walked 165. Over the past two seasons at the AAA level he’s made 58 appearances - all but one in relief.
He’s a sinker/slider pitcher with the fastball sitting in the 92 to 94 mph range and the slider at 83 to 86 mph. He spent the majority of the 2022 season on the injured list appearing in just 14 games - the last on June 24th.
