Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues from games played on 1/8 and 1/9 (Australia). Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Gigantes del Cibao 4 (1 -9) Toros del Este 1 (7-3) - Bryan De La Cruz (RF) went 2 for 4 (single & triple) with an RBI for the Toros. RHP Jimmy Cordero pitched two scoreless innings (2 H, 1 K) to close out the win for the Gigantes.
Aguilas Cibaenas 2 (5-5) Leones del Escogido 1 (7-3) - RHP Hector Neris (1 H, 2 K’s) and RHP Aneurys Zabala (1 K) each pitched a scoreless inning for the Leones.
Mexican Winter League : playoffs :
Charros de Jalisco 2 (4-2) Naranjeros de Hermosillo 1 (2-4) - the defending champion Charros win the series and advance to the semifinals.
Tomateros de Culiacán 5 (3-3) Cañeros de Los Mochis 4 (3-3) - Luis Verdugo (SS) hit a solo home run for the Tomateros.
Venezuela Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Cardenales de Lara 3 (2-0) Caribes de Anzoategui 1 (1-2) - RHP Cristian Hernandez pitched 1.1 scoreless innings (1 BB) for the Caribes.
Aguilas del Zulia 11 (2-1) Bravos de Margarita 5 (1-1) - Wilson Garcia (DH) went 3 for 5 (single, double, HR) with two RBIs and a run scored for the Bravos.
Puerto Rico Winter League : League Playoffs :
Cangrejeros de Santurce 2 (3-2) Criollos de Caguas 1 (2-3) - RHP Nicholas Padilla pitched a perfect inning for the Criollos.
Leones de Ponce 7 (3-2) Gigantes de Carolina 4 (2-3) - ten innings - Dalton Guthrie (CF) went 2 for 5 (single & HR) with two RBIs and two runs scored and Jesmuel Valentin (2B) was 2 for 5 (single & double) for the Leones.
Australian Baseball League :
Brisbane Bandits 10 (14-19) Adelaide Giants 7 (15-17) - Rixon Wingrove (1B/LF) was 1 for 2 (single) for Brisbane with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI’s. Devin Saltiban (CF) was 2 for 5 (single & double), Raylin Heredia (RF/LF) 1 for 3 (single) with a walk, stolen base and two runs scored, Jose Colmenares (SS) 1 for 4 (HR) with two RBIs, Manolfi Jimenez (LF/RF) 1 for 3 (single) with two RBIs and Alirio Ferrebus (C) 1 for 3 (single) with two runs scored for Adelaide. LHP Camron Hill pitched two innings (4 R, 5 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 38 pitches - 25 strikes) for the Giants.
Sydney Blue Sox 9 (21-11) Perth Heat 6 (14-17) - Tim Kennelly (DH) was 2 for 5 (singles) with a run scored for Perth.
