Big League Phillies season end :

It was a heartbreaking loss last evening to the Dodgers but anyone who belittles or sends a nasty note to Orion Kerkering is truly a moron. Enough said.

Taking a step back and reflecting on the series, it was a pitching clinic - the Dodgers hit just .199 in the four games, the Phillies posted a .212 batting average. Some of the best hitters in the sport were dominated including the likely MVP of the league and the runner up! It was an incredible effort by both pitching staffs - as a former pitcher it was tremendously impressive. Pitching dominates the major leagues, the abilities of today’s hurlers to spin and/or deliver pitches at consistently high velocities is mind boggling. The Dodgers had five pitchers in the four games that threw triple digit fastballs, the Phillies hurlers put the ball in spots throughout the series in un-hit-able or soft contact zones. Folks can bemoan all they want about the lack of hitting in the series which is true but it wasn’t just a fault of the hitters - the pitchers were damn good!

So with the Phillies now out of it I will root for ST neighbor the Blue Jays to win it - they train in Dunedin which is right next to Clearwater.  I’ve always enjoyed watching Vladdy Guerrero Jr play so am hoping to see him and his team win a ring.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️

Steve, I been an avid reader of your site for several years now and I wanted to thank you for all the work and effort you put into making the site enjoyable, knowledgeable and POSITIVE. I’ve loved following all the Philly sports all my life (a long time 77 years), and always especially liked learning about the “kids” coming up. To work toward a lifelong dream and deal with the pressure to constantly perform at a high physical and mental level requires a lot more than most can accomplish. The way you portray the theminor leaguers as humans, with personalities, problems, and real lives is a breathe of fresh air. I occasionally find you lurking on another site where…
