10/26/26 : Annual Phillies Minor League Player Notes - Pitchers - Part Seven

Written by Steve Potter
This Phillies off-season I continue the series “Annual Phillies Minor League Player Notes” with profiles presented in groupings by defensive positions for the players who were still part of the minor league player development program at season’s end. The notes will reflect statistics, my thoughts on each player and input from them and others as I have it. They are presented in order by position and then alphabet in groupings of five players per article. Here is part seven- pitchers, highlighting the following :
Alexander De Los Santos
Ryan Dromboski
Reese Dutton
Jake Eddington
Braeden Fausnaught
RH Alexander De Los Santos - 20 yrs old (21 on 8/23/27) - signed international free agent 1/15/23 - Santo Domingo, DR
2026 Stats : appeared in 7 games (three starts) totaling 10.2 IP for the FCL Phillies - posted a 15.19 ERA, 12 K’s, 11 walks - went on IL 6/14 and finished the year working with the rehab team at the complex.
2026 Notes : fastball in the 91 to 94 mph range, touches 96, change-up and slider. Has compact delivery - slightly above 3/4 arm slot. Went on the IL with elbow soreness.
2027 Outlook : hopefully returns to good health and gets back into action.
RH Ryan Dromboski - 23 years old (24 on 6/1/27) - signed as un-drafted free agent - 8/1/24 - University of Pennsylvania
2026 Stats : made 17 appearances (16 starts) at Jersey Shore posting a 4.89 ERA in 73.2 IP with 70 K’s & 32 walks - promoted to Reading 9/13 - two regular season appearances and one post season start. As of this writing had made three appearances (10.2 IP) allowing one run on six hits, four walks with ten strikeouts for Surprise in the Arizona Fall League.
2026 Notes : spent three collegiate years pitching for the Penn Quakers. During his sophomore year in 2023 he was recognized as the Ivy League Pitcher of the Year and earned a first-team All-Ivy selection. Ryan attended North Burlington County High School in Columbus, NJ where he played both baseball and soccer. This season he had a relatively good year at Jersey Shore. He lost the entire month of action on the IL in July but returned in August to post a strong 1.72 ERA in four starts (15.2 IP). He’s a very pleasant and energetic young man, the excitement and enthusiasm to become a Phillie was evident in his voice when we initally spoke shortly after he first arrived at the Clearwater Complex. His sinker fastball is generally in the 90-94 mph range, also throws a slider, curve, change up and cutter. He has shown that he will throw each pitch in any count with the sinker and slider as his go to pitches. Knows how to pitch, was selected to pitch in the Arizona Fall League - has performed well in early action there.
Ryan’s season reflections : “I learned how to battle some adversity of trying to be too perfect and an injury. I am very happy with my progression and how the season ended as the last five weeks went very well for me. My offseason approach is to gain more weight and become more limber. I hope to be in AA at the start of next year, after spring training. But I’m just excited to keep playing for the Phillies!”
2027 Outlook : likely opens the season with Reading as a starter or bulk reliever.
RH Reese Dutton - 25 years old (26 on 5/15/27) - signed as an un-drafted free agent - 7/26/24 - University of Kansas
2026 Stats : opened the season with Jersey Shore - made 16 appearances (14 starts) totaling 82.1 IP with a 3.39 ERA, 72 K’s, 26 walks. Promoted to Reading 7/25 - made 9 appearances (3 starts) - 23 IP, 8.22 ERA, 11 K’s, 18 BB. Overall - 25 appearances - 17 starts - 105.1 IP, 4.44 ERA, 83 K’s, 44 BB.
2026 Notes : is an innings eater and strike thrower who can pitch as either a starter or bulk reliever. He is a sinker ball pitcher (88 to 91 mph - touches 93) with a slider, change-up, cutter and curve. Uses his pitch-ability to get outs. Reese is from Kenosha, Wisconsin - originally attended Heartland Community College and then USC Upstate - transferred to Kansas for his final collegiate season where he led the team in innings pitched. He’s taken on that same mantra as a professional - hit spots, sequence deliveries and get hitters out. May have worn down a bit at year end - marked the second consecutive year that he threw 105 innings.
2027 Outlook : likely breaks camp with Reading in starter/bulk reliever role.
RH Jake Eddington - 25 years old (26 on 4/26/27) - drafted in 7th round of the 2023 draft from Missouri State
2026 Stats : played the entire year with Jersey Shore - 39 appearances - 48.2 IP - 4.62 ERA - 48 K’s, 36 BB. It was his third year with the BlueClaws - ended the 2024 season there with five appearances, after beginning 2025 in Clearwater made 19 appearances with Jersey Shore. Overall has pitched in 63 games as a BlueClaw - 82.2 IP.
2026 Notes : features a four seam fastball (92-95 mph - touches 96), slider, change-up, curve and cutter. A one to two inning reliever. Has struggled finding consistency throwing strikes and commanding the zone. Is from Missouri where he was a two time all-state selection in baseball, initially went to the University of Alabama before transferring to Missouri State after two years. A very nice young man who always says hello every time I see him. When he commands the strike zone is a viable reliever to move up the ladder.
Jake’s reflections on the season : “I learned that believing in your preparation and process everyday carries the most weight throughout the season. Overall I’m proud of my progress throughout the year.”
2027 Outlook : will compete in spring camp for a Reading roster spot.
LH Braeden Fausnaught - 27 yrs old (28 on 7/2/27) - signed as UDFA 8/1/22 - West Chester University , PA
2026 Stats : did not pitch in a game - worked with rehab team recovering from TJ surgery. Was throwing live BP session in the fall before breaking camp.
2026 Notes : He’s from Danville, PA and grew up as a Phillies fan. I first met him at Carpenter Complex shortly after he signed, it was evident from our first conversation and from those we’ve had thereafter that he is someone who works hard, takes nothing for granted and puts in a full effort to climb the ladder. He’s also got a great sense of humor and is a well regarded teammate. Braeden is a battler on the mound - he features a fastball (90 to 93 mph), cutter, slider and changeup - produces outs with mix, consistency of delivery and arm slot along with good differentials in both pitch shape and velocity. A throwback to the “crafty left hander” description but with more pop - is not intimidated by any situation and has both started and pitched in bulk relief. Unfortunately he suffered an elbow injury in 2025 and eventually had Tommy John surgery. After a year plus of rehab is ready to take the hill once again.
2027 Outlook : is ready to compete for a roster spot in spring camp - likely return to Reading to start.
