One down and twelve to go for our Phighten Phillies ! Jean Segura came thru big time in the 9th inning with a two run single to put the club ahead in the midst of a six run outburst. How bout that Alec Bohm getting hit by a 101 mph heater for an RBI and reacting like it was no big deal - the young man played with great confidence today both at the plate and in the field. Fellow Day Care brothers Bryson Stott, Matt Vierling & Brandon Marsh all made key contributions and played as if they were seasoned veterans.
Zack Wheeler pitched like an Ace, Jose Alvarado made one bad pitch but the boys survived it - David Robertson & Zach Eflin closed it out. Huge 6-3 win !

Meanwhile in Arizona 👀
Johan Rojas continues to excel in the Arizona Fall League. Today he went 2 for 2 with a walk and double - scored twice from the lead off spot in the order and also stole a base. One of his hits was a bunt single - he got to first 3.64 seconds 😳. Rojas is now hitting .467 ( 7 for 15 ) and has an OPS of 1.156 for the Surprise Saguaros.
Also in today’s game Carlos De La Cruz tripled in two ABs and knocked in a run. RHP Francisco Morales pitched a perfect inning in relief striking out two batters. Morales has made two appearances so far ( 2 1/3 scoreless IP - 1 H, 4 K’s, 0 BB ). Francisco told me he’s working on improving his mechanics, going straighter to the plate and making his pitches better. The stuff is there - if he finds consistency the big fella can be a big league asset next season.
In yesterday’s game RHP Cristian Hernandez made his AFL debut - he threw a perfect inning in relief. With todays 6-5 win the Saguaros are tied with Peoria for the league’s best record at 4-1. Today Josh Norris of Baseball America called Johan Rojas one of the most impressive players in the league thus far - that’s high praise ! Last season Bryson Stott & Logan O’Hoppe excelled for the Phillies in the league - both ended this year’s regular season as major leaguers 🧐.
A very good day to be a Phillies fan - let’s hope tomorrow is also a Happy Day, Happy Baseball occurrence ⚾️
