This Phillies off-season I will continue the series  “Annual Phillies Minor League Player Notes” with profiles presented in groupings by defensive positions for the players who were still part of the minor league player development program at season’s end. The notes will reflect statistics, my thoughts on each player and input from them and others as I have it. They are presented in order by position and then alphabet in groupings of players per article. Here’s part two of the infielders highlighting the following :

Jaeden Calderon

Rodolfo Castro

Jose Colmenares

Brady Day

Logan Dawson

Meylin De Leon

Carson DeMartini

Jaeden Calderon  - 20 years old (21 on 9/17/26) - signed as international free agent - 1/15/23 - Dominican Republic

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - went on the IL 5/3 after being brought stateside and assigned to the FCL Phillies - worked with the rehab team at the Complex till 6/19 when activated - played in 12 games - 41 plate appearances - .235/.366/.324 slash line - 3 doubles. Had two strong seasons in the DSL in 2023 and 2024 - made 336 DSL plate appearances - .279/.423/.453 slash line with .875 OPS with 15 doubles, 5 triples, 7 home runs, 47 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.

2025 Notes :  played primarily first base in his brief FCL stint but was also there in extended spring training - I watched him in multiple fielding practices - really good hands, especially digging out low throws and good feet on ground balls and receiving - looked like a natural at first base. He also plays corner outfield spots. Hopefully is injury free in 2026 - likely opens with FCL Phillies if so.

Rodolfo Castro  - 26 years old (27 on 5/21/26) - acquired in trade with Pittsburgh - 8/1/23

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - played in 133 games - 525 plate appearances - .235/.324/.421 slash line with a .745 OPS - 26 doubles, 19 home runs, 82 RBIs, 54 walks, 119 strikeouts, 18 stolen bases for Lehigh Valley.  Defensively played shortstop in 111 games - .955 fielding percentage  - also played in 15 games at third base and 6 in the outfield (including 4 in center field) - actually played really well in the outfield - first time out there in his career. Is currently playing for the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League. Has played in 194 major league games (2021-2023) with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs.

2025 Notes :  is a very athletic player who has good pop - was originally signed by the Pirates on 10/30/15 from Los Llanos in the Dominican Republic. Traded to the Phillies for LHP Bailey Falter. Was a minor league free agent last season and re-signed with the Phillies - is once again a free agent. He’s a bit erratic as a defender - made 22 errors last summer - also have seen him make great plays - was surprisingly strong in the outfield. Can swing the bat and drive in runs - will certainly get a job somewhere in 2026.

Jose Colmenares  - 23 years old (24 on 4/3/26)  - signed as free agent - 8/15/25

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - played in 17 games - 63 plate appearances with Jersey Shore - .207/.254/.379 slash line with a .633 OPS - 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. Began the year with Hudson Valley (Yankees High A affiliate) - 76 games - .222/.322/.376 slash line - 17 doubles, 6 home runs, 33 RBIs - played in 9 games with AA level Somerset.

2025 Notes :  was released by the Yankees on 8/6 and signed a two year contract with the Phillies. He was originally signed by the Yankees on 7/2/18 from Cerro La Guacara, Venezuela. He has played second, short and third base in his minor league career - decent fielder, a take charge presence in the infield. Is currently on the roster of the Águilas del Zulia in the Venezuelan Winter League as an infield reserve and will join Adelaide in the Australian Baseball League mid December. Will likely get opportunities to play multiple middle infield innings particularly at shortstop in 2026 with Jersey Shore.

Brady Day - 23 years old (24 on 3/6/26) - drafted in 10th round of the 2024 draft from Kansas State

2025 Stats :  LH hitter - RH thrower - played in 65 games - 270 plate appearances - .261/.346/.348 slash line with a .694 OPS - 10 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 25 RBIs - 32 walks and 36 strikeouts, 9 stolen bases. Placed on the IL 7/23 - finished the season at the Complex with the rehab team. Defensively played 62 games at third base and played it well - .967 fielding percentage in 180 chances.

2025 Notes :  he’s from Hempstead, New Hampshire and graduated from Pinkerton Academy HS. Played three seasons at Kansas State and posted a strong .327/.447/.472 slash line and .919 OPS in 665 plate appearances. He was previously drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 12th round of the 2023 draft. He’s got good bat to ball skills and is a difficult hitter to strike out. A patient hitter that will take his walks. Has a strong arm and decent range at third base - was primarily a second baseman in college. When I’ve watched him play he shows as steady, smart and disciplined - has the traits of a well schooled ball player. Bat is quick and he consistently makes good contact. Is ready to get back to work in Spring training  - likely breaks camp with Jersey Shore.

Logan Dawson - 19 years old (20 on 6/15/26) - drafted in 16th round of the 2025 draft from Eastern HS, Vorrhees, NJ

2025 Stats : LH hitter - RH thrower - after signing spent the majority of his time working at the complex in the draftee mini-camp. Was activated with Clearwater on 9/5 - went 1 for 3 in his pro debut on 9/6 - the only game he’s played in to date.

2025 Notes :  Logan had committed to Boston College before being drafted by the Phillies but when his favorite team offered him a contract he said  “I am a diehard fan and it’s crazy, it doesn’t seem real, It is a dream come true.” He’s already made a good impression in his early days as a pro - hard worker, dedicated and a team player.  The young man has baseball capabilities as well - big frame, quick hands, bat to ball skills and a good eye at the dish - defensively has a quick release and strong arm - will be given opportunities at both middle infield positions. He’s a slender young man - is currently in High Performance Camp working on strength and conditioning to prepare for his first full pro season. Could open 2026 in extended spring and with the FCL Phillies however spring camp will decide the potential assignment to a spot with the Clearwater Threshers.

Logan’s 2025 reflections :  “Every single day I enjoy the game even more, it’s a blessing to be able to do it as a job and the ability to do it with such a great organization. I am very happy with my progress and situation and my goal is to just keep getting better every day.”

Meylin De Leon  - 18 years old (19 on 4/21/26)  - signed as international free agent - 1/15/24 - Azua, Dominican Republic

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - played in 40 games - 125 plate appearances with the FCL Phillies - .116/.200/.170 slash line with 3 doubles, a home run and 7 RBIs. Only his second season of pro baseball - played in 48 DSL games in 2024 - made 177 plate appearances with a .252/.350/.318 slash line - 8 doubles and a triple.

2025 Notes :  brought stateside as a seventeen year old in extended spring camp - appeared in games defensively at second (16), shortstop (11) and third base (12) - even one game in left field. A very young player who was a bit overwhelmed with his assignment this past year - showed flashes of why he was selected as a FCL player - I was there on 5/29 when he hit his first pro home run against the Jays. Now that he’s had a year of experience it will be interesting how he performs in 2026 - likely again with the FCL Phillies.

Carson DeMartini  - 22 years old (23 on 12/27/25)  - drafted in 4th round of the 2024 draft from Virginia Tech

2025 Stats :  LH hitter - RH thrower - began the year with Jersey Shore - 53 games - 229 plate appearances - .284/.402/.474 slash line with a .876 OPS - 10 doubles, 8 home runs, 30 RBIs, 31 walks, 64 strikeouts and 18 stolen bases. Promoted to Reading on 6/9 - 66 games - 292 plate appearances - .202/.291/.288 slash line with .579 OPS - 10 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs and 22 RBIs - 28 walks, 75 strikeouts and 27 stolen bases. Overall numbers - 119 games - 521 plate appearances - .237/.340/.367 slash line with a .707 OPS - 20 doubles, 4 triples, 10 home runs, 52 RBIs, 59 walks, 139 strikeouts and 45 stolen bases.  Defensively played 89 games at third base (.918 fielding percentage) and 25 games at shortstop (.918 fielding percentage).

2025 Notes :  he’s from Virginia Beach, Virginia and graduated from Ocean Lakes HS. He played club ball with the Tidewater Orioles. In three seasons at Virginia Tech posted a .311/.435/.642 slash line and 1.077 OPS in 752 plate appearances with 39 doubles, 10 triples, 46 home runs and 164 RBIs. He’s got a compact and powerful swing - has shown he can drive the ball to all fields. Defensively has shown a strong arm - he’s a hard worker who steadily improved over the course of the season - has the skills and instincts to become an asset at third base. After arriving in Reading battled an injury before being placed on the IL 9/5. Was slated to play in the Arizona Fall League but had a wrist issue and the assignment was recalled, is now working his way back to action. Hopefully will be ready to play in spring camp. Has a big league skillset and profile - likely returns to Reading to begin next season with an eye upwards.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
