The Phillies traded minor league outfielder Logan Cerny to the Astros for Catcher Garrett Stubbs.
Stubbs, 28 years old, was the Astros 8th round draft choice in the 2015 draft from USC. He played in 18 major league games in 2021 accumulating 34 AB’s … he also played in 37 games at the AAA level and hit .265 in 113 AB’s.
While a collegian he was awarded the 2015 Johny Bench Award as the best catcher in division one baseball. He’s noted as having plus athleticism and as a solid defender with a good arm.
My notes on Logan Cerny who goes to Houston in the trade :
OF - Birthdate : 9/28/99 - 2021 10th round draft selection - Troy University - played in 13 games ( 8 - FCL, 5 - Threshers ) to begin his pro career and also participated in Fall Instructs. He’s very fast and should be a big base stealing threat, we’ve also seen a quick bat and ability to drive the ball.
