World Series :
Sometimes ya just gotta give the other team the credit they deserve. The Astros came into Philadelphia and won two out of three by earning it, they made the plays, got outstanding pitching and timely hits. It’s not always about what our fellas did wrong as some like to proclaim ( just dial in to any talk radio show after an Philly team loss 😂), sometimes the other club just outplays ya.
That doesn’t mean that the boys are gonna wave the white flag in Houston when the first pitch is delivered tomorrow night - they will show up and battle as they have all season. Zack Wheeler has one last start to perform, even with an elbow fatigue issue he’s still capable of pitching very well. Gotta figure out how to solve the Astro’s very formidable pitching cause ya can’t win if ya can’t score runs. We shall see - one thing’s for certain - the season ends in Houston in some form.
The Business of Baseball :
Trading can resume the day after the World Series ends. Five days after the conclusion of the WS is the deadline for teams to make qualifying offers to the big league players who are eligible to become free agents, ten days after that is the deadline for those players to accept the offers if they chose to do so. November 18th is the deadline to submit rosters before the Rule 5 draft which is held in December at the Winter Meetings.
The following players are presently on the 40 man roster but can become free agents this off season :
LHP : Brad Hand
RHP : Noah Syndergaard, Corey Knebel, Kyle Gibson, Zach Eflin ( if club option is declined ), David Robertson, Chris Devenski
Infielders : Jean Segura ( if club option is declined )
According to MLB Rule Nine “an unsigned minor league player is automatically declared a free-agent at 5 PM (Eastern) on the 5th day after the final game of the World Series if the player has spent all or any part of at least seven separate seasons on a minor league roster (including all or parts of any season spent on Optional Assignment to the minors and/or on a minor league Injured List) and/or if the player has been previously released or non-tendered in his career and his present contract (known as a "second contract" even if it's his third or fourth minor league contract) has expired.”

Arizona Fall League :
Carlos De La Cruz had a day yesterday going 4 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. He’s now hitting .302 for the season in the AFL with a .902 OPS.
OF Johan Rojas & RHP Cristian Hernandez were selected as National League All Stars for Sunday’s League All Star game. Rojas is not able to play as he’s nursing an injury. Johan posted a .310/.423/.452 slash line in 52 plate appearances with 4 doubles, a triple and seven RBIs - he stole 13 bases without being caught.
Cristian has a 2-0 record in 8 appearances ( 11 IP ) with a 0.91 WHIP - he’s posted 11 strikeouts and has walked just one batter.
Jhailyn Ortiz will participate in the home run derby on Saturday.
