This Phillies off-season I continue the series  “Annual Phillies Minor League Player Notes” with profiles presented in groupings by defensive positions for the players who were still part of the minor league player development program at season’s end. The notes will reflect statistics, my thoughts on each player and input from them and others as I have it. They are presented in order by position and then alphabet in groupings of five players per article. Here is pitchers - part seventeen, highlighting the following :

Matt Potok

Jacob Pruitt

Danyony Pulido

Alan Rangel

Bo Rhudy

RH Matt Potok - 23 years old (24 on 6/2/27) - drafted in 18th round of the 2025 draft from Coastal Carolina University

2026 Stats :  did not pitch in a game during the season - went on the IL 5/14 (shoulder discomfort) and remained on it the entire year.

2026 Notes :  spent the season rehabbing at the complex with the rehab team. He’s a graduate of Jackson Memorial High School in Jackson Township, New Jersey. Noted as a strike thrower both in high school and during his four year collegiate career at Coastal Carolina, had elbow surgery in 2024. Features a low to mid nineties fastball, slider and change up.

2027 Outlook :  if healthy likely starts the year with Clearwater with an eye towards advancing to his home state to play for the BlueClaws.

RH Jacob Pruitt - 23 years old (24 on 8/14/27). - drafted in 15th round of the 2025 draft from Mississippi State

2026 Stats :  made 29 appearances (43.2 IP) for Clearwater with 50 K’s and 32 BB posting a 4.95 ERA. Had a standout month of April - 6 games - 11 IP - 0.82 ERA - 14 K’s, 2 BB. Pitched two or more innings in eleven of his outings.

2026 Notes :  was used as a one to two, sometimes three inning stopgap reliever during the season which was a role he became familiar with as a collegian. Is from Yorktown, Indiana and graduated from Yorktown High School. Originally attended Indiana State where he pitched for two seasons before transferring to Mississippi State. He was in the process of transferring to the University of Missouri before signing with the Phillies. Features a sinking fastball (89-94 mph), slider, cutter and changeup.

2027 Outlook :  will compete for a Jersey Shore roster spot in spring camp.

RH Danyony Pulido  - 24 years old (25 on 10/19/27) - signed international free agent 2/2/21 - Caracas, Venezuela

2026 Stats :  made 33 appearances (38 IP) with a 5.92 ERA, 44 K’s and 40 walks, 9.47 BB/9, 10.42 K/9 for Jersey Shore. Had an outstanding month of April - 0.84 ERA in 7 games - 10.2 IP, 12 K’s, 8 walks, .135 BAA.

2026 Notes :  walks were far too many this season - while having never shown great control his walk rate nearly doubled what it had been in his previous five seasons - that led to clogged bases and a ballooned ERA as pitches in the zone had less movement in order to throw strikes. This coming off a dominant year in Clearwater in 2025 (1.17 ERA in 30.2 IP). He’s a power arm that excelled in 2025 when moved to the bullpen - has reached triple digits with his four seam fastball - general FB range 93-97 mph, slider and change up. Pitched 2025 winter ball in Australia. He can be a dominant bullpen presence as stuff is good but has to throw strikes to excel.

2027 Outlook :  likely returns to Jersey Shore to begin the year.

RH Alan Rangel  - 29 years old (30 on 8/21/27) - signed as a free agent 7/16/24

2026 Stats :  made 22 appearances (19 starts) for Lehigh Valley totaling 108 IP with a 5.58 ERA, 107 K’s and 45 walks. Appeared in seven major league games (three starts) posting a 5.88 ERA in 26 IP with 29 K’s and 13 walks. It was his second consecutive year on the AAA/MLB shuttle as starting pitching/bulk relief depth for the Phillies.

2026 Notes :  was originally signed by the Atlanta Braves on 7/2/14 from Hermosillo, Mexico. He became a minor league free agent and signed with the Angels in November of 2023, was released by the Angels and signed by the Phillies in 2024. Pitched winter ball for his hometown team Hermosillo in the Mexican Pacific League from 2019 to 2025 and is once again on the roster this winter. Sneaky quick fastball (92 to 95 mph, touches 96), slider, change up and curve. Generally keeps his team in games providing a chance to win.

2027 Outlook :  he’s now out of options so can’t be an AAA/MLB shuttle candidate without being designated and out-righted.

RH Bo Rhudy - 22 years old (23 on 11/4/27) - 2026 7th round draft pick - University of Tennessee

2026 Stats :  did not pitch in a game after signing, instead worked at the complex in “draft camp” learning the regimen of pro baseball life and working on skills, strength and conditioning along with mental skills.

2026 Notes :  is from Chickamauga, Georgia and graduated from Gordon Lee HS. Originally attended Kennesaw State - pitched in 40 games there - transferred to Tennessee for the 2026 season - made 23 appearances and led the Tennessee bullpen with three saves and a 0.88 WHIP.  MLB - “Rhudy throws a lot of fastballs and he throws a lot of strikes. That approach worked for two seasons at Kennesaw State and continued to bring him success in the Southeastern Conference, college baseball's best league, after he transferred to Tennessee for his junior season. The fastball sits at 91-93 mph and reaches 96, but hitters can't lay off it or catch up to it despite its below-average velocity. His fastball is special because he creates huge spin rates and significant carry coming from a low release height and flat approach angle. Utilizes it about 70 percent of the time while employing a tight upper-70s slider to throw off batters' timing. The extension in his low-three-quarters delivery adds to his deception. He pounds the strike zone and ranked third in D-I in overall (72 percent) and fastball (77 percent) strike percentage. He's purely a reliever but his unhittable heater might make him a high-leverage option, especially if a pro team can help him gain more velocity.”

Bo’s comments on his 2026 season :   “I was at the complex training with the other pitchers. I learned more about myself physically and how to improve weak spots to maximize my on field play. My off season plan is to improve mobility , strengthen areas that will help me gain velocity, and to further develop my off-speed. Also to prep my body to play in a longer season than I have in the past. As of now I just want to do whatever it takes to perform at the best of my ability. I’m excited to get going in the spring and obviously I hope to climb the ladder as fast as possible.”

2027 Outlook :  likely opens the year with the Clearwater Threshers.
