RHP Trevor Richards has signed a minor league contract for the 2026 season with the Phillies. The 32 year old pitched last season in the Cubs, Royals and Diamondbacks organizations. He appeared in five major league games (three with KC and two with Arizona) posting a 7.94 ERA in 5.2 innings. Most of his 2025 action was at the AAA level in the minor leagues - 7 games with Iowa (Cubs), 10 with Omaha (Royals) and 21 with Reno (Diamondbacks) recording a 5.19 ERA in 38 games (52 IP) with 55 K’s and 19 walks. He was signed by the Cubs in January, released in May, signed by the Royals in May, released in June and then signed by Arizona with whom he finished the season - he elected free agency in October.
Richards has pitched in 295 major league games (2018 to 2025) and has a career 4.53 ERA in 565.2 IP. He features a low nineties fastball, changeup (best pitch) and slider. He’s a side-armer who has pitched with the Marlins, Brewers, Blue Jays, Rays, Twins, Royals and Diamondbacks in the majors. He debuted as a starter with Miami in 2018 as a starter but transitioned to the bullpen in 2019.
