Venezuela :
Third Baseman Daniel Brito hit a three run home run in the fifth inning and drove in four runs for Aguilas del Zulia in their game against Cardenales de Lara.
Nineteen year old RHP Carlos Betancourt started the game for Aguilas and pitched 2 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings walking three batters and striking out two hitters. Carlos signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent on July 2nd, 2017. He’s from Cumana, Venezuela. We saw him throw in the 2019 GCL but he was nursing a knee issue ... known as a “big arm” I don’t think we got to see him at his best that summer.
Nineteen year old outfielder Yhoswar Garcia made his debut for Tiburnos de La Guaira. He pinch hit in the ninth inning and struck out.
Puerto Rico :
Nineteen year old outfielder Jadiel Sanchez hit a double for RA12 in their game against Indios de Mayaguez. Twenty year old Kevin Escalante saw his first action of the season in the game, also for RA12. He went 0 for 2 with a walk as the DH. Former Phillies RHP Yacksel Rios pitched a scoreless inning for the Indios with two strikeouts. Yacksel is 27 years old and is presently a free agent. Word is he was firing in the upper nineties.
Mexico :
Darick Hall hit a two run home run ( his 4th of the season ) for Caneros de los Mochis giving him 18 RBIs in 52 AB’s (15 games).
