Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in fall/winter leagues from games played on 12/17 and 12/18 (Australia). Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League :
Bryan De La Cruz (RF) was hit by a pitch in the first inning and had to leave the game for the Toros del Este in a 2-1 loss to the Gigantes del Cibao. Jonathan Guzman (SS) was 2 for 4 (singles) with two RBIs for the Leones del Escogido in a 8-5 win against the Aguilas Cibaenas. Jonathan Hernandez (RHP) pitched an inning (2 R, 3 H, 2 K’s - 17 pitches - 14 strikes) for the Aguilas.
Mexican Winter League :
Joey Meneses (1B) went 3 for 6 (two singles & HR) with four RBIs for the Tomateros de Culiacán in a 13-9 loss to the Charros de Jalisco. Esteban Quiroz (2B) was 2 for 3 (single & double) with an RBI for the Algodoneros de Guasave in a 7-2 victory over the Cañeros de Los Mochis. RHP Alan Rangel pitched 2/3 of an inning (0 R, 2 H, 2 K’s - 21 pitches - 12 strikes) for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in a 3-2 loss to the Jaguares de Nayarit. RHP Efrain Contreras pitched a scoreless inning (1 H, 2 K’s) for the Yaquis de Obregón in a 4-3 win against the Águilas de Mexicali.
Venezuela Winter League :
LHP Rafael Marcano pitched 1.2 innings (0 R, 0 H, 2 K’s) for the Caribes de Anzoategui in a 16-2 win over the Cardenales de Lara.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
LHP Ethan Lindow pitched two perfect innings (1 K) for the Senadores de San Juan in a 13-3 loss to the Criollos de Caguas. RHP Lenny Torres pitched a perfect inning (1 K) for the Leones de Ponce in a 10-7 win over the Cangrejeros de Santurce. RHP Andrew Baker pitched a scoreless inning (0 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s) for Santurce.
Australian Baseball League :
The Sydney Blue Sox clubbed the Adelaide Giants 19-8. Jordan McArdle (DH-LF) was 2 for 4 (double & HR) with four RBIs for Adelaide. Devin Saltiban (CF) went 1 for 5 (single) to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Nick Ward (2B) was 1 for 3 (single). RHP Danyony Pulido pitched 1/3 of an inning ( 2 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 19 pitches - 7 strikes). Both Saltiban and Ward were named to the league’s mid-season All-Star team.
Colombian Winter League :
Nolan Beltran (2B) went 1 for 4 (single) and RHP Felix Paulino tossed a scoreless frame (1 H, 1 K) for the Tigres de Cartagena in a 5-3 win over the Vaqueros de Monteria.
