Listed on the team transactions page as a 12/17/22 signing infielder Nick Podkul has been added to the minor league roster. He played last season at the AAA level in the Blue Jays organization for Buffalo appearing in 60 games ( 175 AB’s ) and posting a .211 batting average with 5 home runs and 24 RBIs.
Nick was the Blue Jays 7th round draft selection in the 2018 draft from Notre Dame where he was a collegiate teammate of Matt Vierling. In his pro career he’s played all four infield positions but primarily first, second and third base. The now 25 year old hit 34 doubles, 6 triples and 13 home runs in three collegiate seasons at Notre Dame and posted a .410 OBP in 672 plate appearances. In 994 pro plate appearances he’s posted a .353 OBP. He will compete for an infield spot during spring training with either Lehigh Valley or Reading.
