Garrett Whitley ( 25 years old ) has been signed to a minor league contract - he was the 1st round draft selection of the Tampa Rays in the 2015 draft from Niskayuna High School in Niskayuna, NY.
Last season he played in the Milwaukee Brewers organization playing in 88 games ( 40 at AA & 48 at AAA ) and posted a .220/.355/.385 slash line in 353 plate appearances with 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 35 RBIs. He is a career .232 hitter in 1,707 AB’s in 501 minor league games.
He’s noted as a very good defensive outfielder.
