Free-agent RHP Brandon Kintzler has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Phillies. Says he turned down major-league deal from the Marlins for the chance to make more money in Philadelphia.

Kintzler was the closer for the Marlins last season converting 12 of 14 save opportunities. He’s 36 years old and has pitched in 11 major league seasons with the Brewers, Twins, Nationals, Cubs and Marlins. He saved 28 games for the Twins in 2017.
Kintzler posted a 2.68 ERA in 2019 in 57 IP in 2019 with the Cubs.
He’s nicknamed “Salt” ... adds a quality experienced arm to the Phillies bullpen.
Kintzler gets $3M from Phillies plus $1M incentives (500K games, 500K games finished). Turned down $2M MLB deal from Marlins.
