Major League Practice : Day Two - Pitchers and Catchers :
The eight catchers in camp (Rafael Marchan, Paul McIntosh, JT Realmuto, Garrett Stubbs, Kehden Hettiger, Mark Kolozsvary, Rene Pinto, Caleb Ricketts) did throwing, pop up and catching drills and took batting practice on the stadium field. Pitchers went thru fielding practice on Ashburn and Schmidt fields. No side bullpens today.
High Performance Camp - Day Nineteen :
Position player fielding drills were conducted on Roberts Field. Pitchers fielding practices were held on Carlton Field. Batting practices were held on Ashburn, Carlton and Roberts fields.
Fifteen pitchers threw side bullpen sessions today on the seven mounds area and in the lab - Zuher Yousuf, Mitch Neunborn, Jaydenn Estanista, Cole Gilley, Brad Pacheco, Angel Liranzo, Titan Kennedy-Hayes, Gabriel Barbosa, Jonathan Gonzalez, Tyler Bowen, Matt Potok, Richie Cortese, Anderson Navas, Deiry Gonzalez and Keegan Batka.
Camp Spotlight : RHP Deiry Gonzalez - 17 years old - signed 1/15/25 - San Cristobal, Dominican Republic
Gonzalez was considered by many as the top Phillies pitching prospect at the Dominican Academy last year. In ten Dominican Summer League (DSL) starts he posted a 1.13 ERA in 40 IP with 34 K’s and 8 walks, a WHIP of 0.95. According to Matt Winkleman’s (Phillies Minor Thoughts) pitch data tracker (thank you Matt for the excellent work) he was generally in the 90-92 range with his fastball and also showed a slider, change up and curve. He had an outstanding month of July - in three starts he posted a 0.00 ERA in 13 IP with 13 K’s and 1 BB - a .196 BAA and 0.77 WHIP. Deiry has a tall frame with room to add strength indicative that he can might add more velocity as well. Was selected to the 2025 DSL All-Star game representing the National League. Promoted stateside on 1/10/26 - will debut with the FCL Phillies this summer.
