2/17/24 : Phillies to sign OF David Dahl

Twenty-nine year old left handed hitting outfielder David Dahl reportedly will sign (pending physical) a minor league contract with the Phillies which includes a non-roster invitation to major league spring training.

Dahl was the first round draft selection (10th overall) in the 2012 draft by the Colorado Rockies from Oak Mountain HS in Birmingham, Alabama.  He has played in 331 major league games (2016 to 2023) with the Rockies, Rangers and Padres organizations and has a career .271/.317/.463 slash line in 1,249 plate appearances with 64 doubles, 14 triples and 43 home runs.  His most successful big league season was in 2019 when he slashed .302/.353/.524 in 413 plate appearances for the Rockies with 28 doubles, 5 triples and 15 home runs.

David has played for the Rockies, Brewers, Rangers, Padres and Dodgers organizations.  Last season he played the majority of his time at the Triple A level for the Padres and Dodgers - posted a combined .278/.351/.466 slash line in 313 plate appearances with 26 doubles, 9 home runs and 49 RBIs.  The majority of his season was with the Dodgers AAA club Oklahoma City where he hit .282/.354/.493 in 237 plate appearances with 21 doubles and 8 home runs.   He battled a right quadriceps injury a good bit of the 2023 campaign.

Coming into spring training camp he will seemingly compete for a major league reserve role and possibly fill a roster spot with AAA Lehigh Valley if unsuccessful in gaining a big league job.

From a fan’s view welcome to the Phillies David!

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
