Today’s Minor League Camp activities :
Two pitchers ( Nathan Karaffa & Spencer Van Scoyoc ) threw afternoon bullpen sessions on the seven mounds area in front of the David Montgomery Training Center - twenty pitchers threw live BP’s on Ashburn, Carlton & Roberts Field.
Minor League Pitchers who threw live bullpens :
Erubiel Armenta, Hans Crouse, Taylor Lehman, Keylan Killgore, Jakob Hernandez, Adam Leverett, Mike Adams, Jesus Cruz, Brian Marconi, Chase Antle, Noah Skirrow, Tyler McKay, Eduar Segovia, Ethan Lindow, Tyler Phillips, Tom Sutera, Trey Cobb, Andrew Schultz, Matt Seelinger & Braden Zarbnisky
My Observations :
I kidded lefty hitting outfielder Ethan Wilson when he came in this morning that if he hit a home run during live BP that the entire article today would be about him - well he did just that - turned on an Andrew Schultz high slider and drove it over the right field fence on Roberts - Ethan seems quick and short to the baseball thus far in camp and has impressed. In his batting practice rounds he’s been squaring it up regularly. Lefty hitter Jordan Viars went yard on Carlton Field to right field against Matt Seelinger - Jordan has been peppering the ball in his BP sessions as well - impressive for the 19 year old to turn on a pitch from a hurler who reached Triple A last season. Infielder and RH hitter Hao Yu Lee continues to rake - his approach and swing covers the entire dish and the hands thru the baseball are exemplary - he lined a bullet up thru the middle in today’s session - the 20 year old has the hitting savvy and skill set to climb the ladder to the upper rungs of the minors perhaps even as soon as this season. Prior to live BP 1BOF and LH hitter Chad Castillo and outfielder/RH hitter Garrett Whitley had very solid rounds in regular BP against the pitching machine on Ashburn Field - Castillo looks bull strong - easy power.
Pitchers who stood out in live BP that I was able to watch today, ( there were three fields going at the same time so had to hustle to see as many as I could ), were Taylor Lehman ( great movement on secondaries ), Keylan Killgore ( struck out three batters in his session ), Tyler Phillips ( heavy sinker that is difficult to square up ) and Chase Antle ( velo continues to climb ). I heard that Tyler McKay & Mike Adams also had good sessions.

Major League Camp Activity :
Players reported at 9 AM, were on the field for activities at 10 AM with practice activities kicking off at 10:20 - camp concluded at 12:30 PM. I didn’t get to see much as was focused on the afternoon session for the minor leagues - did watch some BP on Ashburn and later saw LHP Michael Plassmeyer throw a live BP on Roberts Field against hitters Vito Friscia & Garrett Stubbs. Plassmeyer features a very good changeup - we saw that a bit today however was mostly fastballs and sliders - has very good command/control - hit his spots and generally kept pitches down in the zone.
