Major League Practice @ Carpenter Complex/Stadium :

Pitchers :

Side bullpen (half field mound) - Jesus Luzardo, Andrew Painter, Andrew Bechtold, Jhoan Duran, Tucker Davidson

Live BP (Stadium) - Taijuan Walker - catcher - Garrett Stubbs - hitters - JT Realmuto, Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Alec Bohm, Brandon Marsh, Bryson Stott

Position Players who weren’t assigned to the game - BP on Ashburn before live BP

Observations :

When you watch Andrew Painter bullpens you’ll notice that he indicates to his catcher where he intends to throw each pitch - when he’s sharp he generally hits the spots. In today’s session he was hitting his targets for the majority of his pitches, seems he’s also working on a new grip for what appeared to be a changeup - from what I could tell was a version of the circle change grip. Next to him in today’s session was Jesus Luzardo - he consistently hit the target set up by catcher JT Realmuto who was his receiver. In some of the bullpen sessions they use stringed indicators in front of the catcher for various zones - Luzardo was threading the needle on even the smallest zone areas with ease, he’s looked really good thus far this spring. Jhoan Duran also seems to be working on a new pitch - looks like a change up.

Minor League Mini Camp :

Side bullpens (seven mounds) - Kyler Carmack, Naoel Mejia, Micah Ottenbreit, Luke Russo, MT Morrissey, Matt Fisher, Cade Obermueller, Braydon Tucker, Sean Youngerman, Eli Trop

Live BP (Roberts) - Luke Gabrysh, Gage Wood, Cody Bowker - hitters - Alex Binelas, Alirio Ferrebus, Raylin Heredia, Jonathan Hogart
