2/28/2021 : Phillies ST Game One - Lakeland

Tigers 10 Phillies 2

Today was a seven inning game.

Adam Haseley took the second pitch of the ballgame over the left field wall for the first hit and home run of the 2021 Grapefruit League !

The Tigers Willi Castro took Ivan Nova’s first pitch in the bottom half of the first inning far over the right center field wall to tie the game at one apiece. Traveled 458 feet 😥. Two singles and a walk followed to load the bases with no outs. Nova then walked in a run. He struck out the following batter and his day was done ... Nova’s fastball sat in the 92-94 range ... also threw a changeup and curve ball ... 27 total pitches ... 14 for strikes.

Jonathan Hennigan replaced Nova with the bases loaded and walked the first two hitters he faced to make the count 4-1 Tigers. Dustin Garneau singled to score a run. Leadoff hitter Castro grounded out to second to score another. After the 11th batter in the inning walked Joe GIrardi rolled the inning ... only two outs recorded. 6-1 Tigers.

Hennigan’s fastball sat 92-93 ... threw 23 pitches - 9 for strikes. - 2/3 IP, 1 H, 3 BB

Bryan Mitchell took the hill for the Phillies in the third inning. Mickey Moniak made a diving catch in left field on a soft liner to record the first out of the frame. First baseman Darick Hall made a nice diving stop of a ground ball to get the second out.

With two outs in the bottom of the inning Darick Hall worked a 10 pitch AB to draw a walk ... fouled off five two strike pitches to earn the base ... good job 👍.

Mitchell went two innings including working a perfect fourth frame. His fastball range was 94-95, also threw a 79-81 mph curve ball. 25 pitches - 17 strikes. Good first outing for him as a Phillie - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s 👏.

Enyel De Los Santos pitched the fifth inning for the Phillies. Daniel Pinero took him yard to left field for a solo home run. Enyel struck out the side ... 1 R, 2 H, 3 K’s. - 22 pitches - 16 strikes. His fastball was in the 93-97 range, also threw a slider.

JD Hammer threw the sixth inning. Eric Haase hit a wind blown homer against him over the left field wall. Hammer then took a hard liner off his throwing hand hit by Kody Clemens ( Roger’s son ) but stayed in the game. After two walks and a single loaded the bases a run scored on a walk. JD struggled with command, only recorded two outs - threw 23 pitches - 10 for strikes. His fastball was in the 94-97 range, also threw a low to mid 80’s slider. - yielded 2 R, 2 H, 3 BB and had 1 K.

An idiot fan was ejected and also likely arrested during the game for refusing to wear his mask, he flipped beer on a police officer when asked. Just plain old stupid.
