Australian Baseball League :
The 2023/2024 Claxton Shield winner will be decided in game three of the best of three series as each team has one win thus far. The series opened with a classic thirteen inning contest at Perth in which the winning run scored with a walk off game winning double. Game one was four plus hours long and finished at 11:10 PM local time. The teams left to the airport at 5:00 AM in the morning and played the second game game that night in Adelaide. The decisive game three of the series will be hosted by Adelaide.
2/3 : Adelaide 6 Perth 3
LHP Braeden Fausnaught picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief (2 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 37 pitches - 23 strikes). Former Phillies minor league RHP Austin Ross threw a perfect inning of relief with two strikeouts. Rixon Wingrove, Anthony Quirion and Andrick Nava each had singles in the game. Former Phillies minor leaguer Nick Ward walked, singled and scored a run.
2/2 : Perth 4 Adelaide 3 - 13 innings
Andrick Nava went 3 for 5 with a run scored. Cade Fergus, Rixon Wingrove and Kendall Simmons each had a hit, Fergus and Wingrove doubled. Lachlan Wells pitched five innings (3 RBI, 7 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 76 pitches - 53 strikes).
Caribbean Series :
2/2 : Former Phillies minor league RHP Harold Arauz started and pitched four innings (1 R, 4 H, 4 BB, 2 K’s) for Panama in a 7-3 victory over Curacao. Former Phillies outfielder Emilio Bonifacio was 2 for 5 (single,triple) with an RBI and two runs scored for the Dominican Republic in a 5-4 win against Nicaragua.
2/1 : Former Phillies utility player Roger Bernadina went 3 for 4 (two singles and triple) with a walk for Curacao in a 6-5 win over Mexico. Former Phillies shortstop Didi Gregorius tripled and posted three RBIs for Curacao. Former Phillies outfielder Aaron Altherr was 2 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored for Mexico. Former Phillies RHP Neftali Feliz threw a perfect inning in relief with two strikeouts for the Dominican Republic in a 3-1 loss to Venezuela. Former Phillies minor league infielder Vimael Machin was 2 for 5 with an RBI for Puerto Rico in a 5-2 win over Nicaragua.
