Workouts continued for camp participants. While the emphasis is on strength training and conditioning the winter version of HP Camp has more baseball practice activities that the Fall version.
HP Camp workouts were held on the complex training fields. Modified workouts outdoors today due to wet conditions and colder weather - individualized fielding drills.
Thirteen pitchers threw side bullpen sessions - Angel Liranzo, Titan Kennedy-Hayes, Peyton Havard, Keegan Batka, Zuher Yousuf, Tyler Bowen, Richie Cortese, Jonathan Gonzalez, Brad Pacheco, Matt Potok, Jacob Pruitt, Cole Gilley and Gabriel Barbosa. Five threw in the lab with eight hurling their sessions outdoors.
I watched all of the outdoor bullpens - RH Jacob Pruitt threw a pitch that had screwball movement - it came back arm side as it crossed the plate and had little spin on it - I asked him about it afterwards and he said it was a change-up that he’s been working on - in regards to the movement Jacob kiddingly said it was the wind that pushed it 🤓 - it was a blustery day at the camp - just sayin if he can master that movement it’s certainly a plus offering. Also impressing today were LH Zuher Yousuf, LH Angel Liranzo, RH Brad Pacheco, RH Tyler Bowen and RH Cole Gilley. Gilley has a smooth delivery and the ball jumps, Yousef is compact and clean, has Maddux like feel is my impression, Liranzo has gotten bigger physically - if he adds some zip he’s gonna shine even more - Pacheco can bring it - clean delivery - last summer when I saw him nerves got him, today looked composed. Bowen has some real heat (when he’s hot it’s 95-98 mph with triple digits possible) - could see that in his approach today.
