Player Development  Front Office :


Director of Player Development and Director of Hitting  - Luke Murton - second year in the role - previously two years as the Director of Hitting Development - came to the Phillies from the San Diego Padres where he was a Baseball Operations Advisor and Scouting Cross Checker from 2018 to 2022.  Prior to that he was a scout with the San Francisco Giants from 2015 to 2018 and a minor league coach with the Boston Red Sox before that.  He’s owned and operated a hitting instruction business since 2009.  Luke played collegiate baseball at Georgia Tech University - was the Yankees 19th round draft selection in the 2009 draft - played five seasons in the Yankees system as a first baseman and hit 25 home runs for AA level Trenton in 2012.  He was released by the Yankees in 2013 and played two more seasons in the Red Sox system before turning to coaching.


Assistant Director - Player Development - Edwin Soto was promoted to the role in October of 2024 after serving as Manager of Player Development in 2023. Previously served as Administrator of Minor League Baseball Operations. Edwin has been with the Phillies since 2018 and has a Masters Degree in Business and Technology from East Tennessee State University.


Special Assistant to Director of Player Development - Matt Martin - fifth year in the role - broad experience in professional baseball including as a player, minor league coach and manager, major league defensive coordinator (Tigers) and major league Assistant Coach/Replay Coordinator (Angels).


Coordinator - Player Development - Jake Primack - begins his fifth season in player development, began as an intern in 2022 and hired full time in 2023  - is a 2021 graduate of Denison University with degrees in Data Analytics, Economics and Global Commerce.


Assistant - Player Development - Miguel Prestol - second year in the role after a year of interning - also does some scouting - was previously the Coordinator of Baseball Operations for Escogido in the Dominican Winter League along with serving as an area scout (2020-2023) in the Dominican Republic for the Atlanta Braves organization. Previously he was a video manager for the New York Yankees at their Dominican complex (2016-2019).


Minor League Operations :


Director, Minor League Operations - Lee McDaniel - winner of the 2023 Sheldon 'Chief' Bender Award presented to an individual with distinguished service who has been instrumental in player development. Also was named the Richie Ashburn & David Montgomery Special Achievement Award winner in 2018. Lee has been in his current role since 2012 and has been with the Phillies organization since 1990 when he began as an operations intern. Holds a masters degree in sports administration from Ohio University.


Director, Minor League Training Facilities and Equipment - Joe Cynar - promoted to Director in February of 2022 - served as Assistant Director prior to that since 2013 - began full time with the Phillies as Manager of Minor League Training Facilities and Equipment in 2004 however worked for the club in the late 1980’s as a batboy, clubhouse assistant and facility operations manager at Jack Russell Stadium through high school and college. Holds a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Central Florida.


Director, International Operations - Ray Robles - has been with the Phillies since 2010 - began as Administrative Assistant in 2010, promoted to Coordinator of International Operations in 2013, to Assistant Director in 2016 and Director in 2022. Holds a masters degree in business administration from Saint Leo University.


Senior Manager - Minor League Administration - Dianne Gonzalez -served as the Manager of Business Operations for Phillies Florida LLC/Clearwater Threshers for the past 27 years, promoted to Sr. Manager, Minor League Administration for Player Development two years ago. Dianne provides administrative oversight and financial management services for Minor League Operations including budget analysis, expense reporting and reimbursement processes, accounts payable, minor league affiliate business operations,and capital project administration.


Coordinator - Minor League Equipment - Mike Pascento - first year in the role - hired in October of 2025 - previously employed by the New York Yankees as Minor League Clubhouse Manager (2023-2025) after being a Minor League Clubhouse Attendant with the Phillies from 2018 to 2023 - graduate of the University of Tampa with a degree in Sports Management.


Coordinator - Clubhouse Services - Vinnie Pezzino - worked as clubhouse equipment manager for the Dunedin Blue Jays before coming to the Phillies in 2018 - named to his current role in January of 2022 - has a bachelors degree in marketing from the University of South Florida and Associates degrees in Computer Programming and Business/Commerce from St Petersburg College.


Coordinator - Clearwater clubhouse Food and Beverage - Matt Catalano - worked as a clubhouse assistant with the Phillies from 3/22 to 10/23 - promoted in November of 2024 to current role. Previous experience with clubhouse and equipment internships with the Detroit Tigers, New Orleans Saints and Toronto Raptors. Graduate of the University of Florida.


Coordinator - Minor League Operations - Jose Hildago - has worked with the Phillies since November of 2021 - prior to that interned with the Minnesota Twins at their Fort Myers training complex. Holds a masters degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management from Florida State University.


Coordinator - International Operations - Francisco Hernandez - has served since May of 2023 - previously was a Player Development Assistant at the Phillies Dominican Academy for 15 months. Has also worked for the Dominican Professional Baseball League and the Cleveland Guardians. Holds a Bachelors Degree in Management and Business Analytics from Western Michigan University.


Assistant - Minor League Operations - JJ Teixeira - began in the role in January of 2025 - holds a masters degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University, played collegiate baseball at St. Thomas and Florida International University.


Minor League Field Staff :


Field Coordinator - Kevin Bradshaw  - starts his fifth season in this role with the Phillies, spent 14 seasons as a manager in the Tigers organization beginning in 1994 after serving as a coach for four years prior, was the minor league defensive coordinator for the Tigers in 2008-2011 and minor league field coordinator in 2012 and finished as defensive coordinator thru the 2013 and 2014 seasons. He joined the Orioles in 2015 and was a manager, spring training and fall instructs coordinator for them.  He was the Orioles Team Black manager in the 2021 Florida Complex League.


Development Coordinator - Keith Werman - fourth year in the role, was manager of the Jersey Shore Blue Claws in 2022 - served the prior four seasons as Major League development coordinator for the Padres. Was the third base coach for their Triple-A affiliate in El Paso during 2017. Werman played collegiate baseball at the University of Virginia as well as in the Seattle Mariners system from 2012 to 2013 as a utility infielder after signing as an un-drafted free agent.


Field Coordinator - Dominican Academy - Manny Amador - Following a playing career in the minor leagues that began in 1993 he turned his attention to coaching and player development in 1998. Became the hitting instructor for Phillies Dominican Summer League team in 1999 and held that position till 2001. During the 2001 season he went to Reading to finish the season as the AA level hitting coach after John Kruk’s departure there. Manny served as hitting coach for the Clearwater Phillies for the 2002 thru 2004 season and as Manager of Batavia in 2005. In 2006 Amador took over managing the Phillies Dominican Academy operations. In addition to his administrative duties he also continued to work in player development.  From 2011 to 2016 he served as the DSL Phillies field manager. When the Phillies opened their own Academy building in 2017 Manny was officially named as the Dominican Coordinator, his current position.


Director - Pitching Development - Programming - Travis Hergert - his eighth season with the Phillies, began as assistant pitching coordinator, promoted to Pitching coordinator in 2021 and to Director in the 2024 off-season. Prior to that he served seven years as the head coach at North Iowa Community College and nine years before that as an Assistant Coach there.


Director - Pitching Development - Casey Weathers - second year in the role - was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the 2007 draft from Vanderbilt University - he played till 2016 in the minor leagues with the Rockies, Cubs, Giants, Rays and Indians. In 2020 he was hired by the Cincinnati Reds as their rehabilitation and Arizona League pitching coach. In 2021 he was elevated to Pitching Coordinator by the Reds. Throughout his playing and coaching career he has been a devotee of the Driveline pitching program.


Rehab Pitching Coordinator - Jarrod Parker - third year with the organization - previous two seasons was Assistant Rehab Pitching Coordinator - was the first round draft selection (9th overall) of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2007 MLB draft from Norwell High School in Indiana.  He was traded to the Oakland Athletics in 2011. Pitched two full seasons in the majors with Oakland making 62 starts and going 25-16 with a 3.68 ERA in 384 IP and pitched in the 2012 ALDS. Had multiple injuries thereafter (TJ surgery, elbow fracture, right medial epicondyle) and never made it back to the major leagues.  He retired in 2018 and said he'd look to work in the health industry, potentially serving as a rehab coordinator for players returning from injury.  He opened Parker Sports Performance in Nashville, TN that year which is a "home base for clients and athletes to train, learn and recover. Creating not only a healthy athlete but an educated one. Executing a training program to reach peak physical and mental toughness. Promoting positive attitudes towards sports performance.”


Pitching Coordinator & Cross Checker - Riley McCauley  - first year as a coordinator after spending the past two seasons with Reading - worked 2023 at the complex as pitching coordinator, joined the Phillies in July of 2022 taking the helm as FCL pitching coach - was Assistant Baseball Coach at Troy University prior to that as well as a Pitching Coach at Cressy Sports Performance - played professionally in the Cubs organization from 2018 to 2020 after playing collegiately at Michigan State University. Was the AFL pitching coach in 2025 for the Surprise Saguaros.


Hitting Coordinator and Scouting Advisor - Jake Elmore - fourth year in a coordinator role, served as hitting coach for the Clearwater Threshers in 2022 and as the Phillies designated coach for the Arizona Fall League. Jake was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 34th round of the 2008 draft and played 217 games in the major leagues from 2012 to 2019 with the D’Backs, Astros, Reds, Rays, Brewers and Pirates. He concluded his playing career as a member of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs in 2021 before retiring as a player.


Assistant to the Director of Hitting  - Matt Murton - hired in March of 2023 - was a baseball operations assistant with the Cubs from 2018 to 2020 - played five seasons (2005-2009) in the major leagues for the Cubs, A’s and Rockies - career .286/.352/.436 slash line in. 1,058 MLB plate appearances. He also played in the Nippon Professional Baseball League for the Hanshin Tigers (2010 to 2015).


Hitting Advisor - Greg Colbrunn - had a long playing career in the major leagues from 1992 to 2005. Served as a coach with the Red Sox and Yankees thereafter - most recently has been a hitting consultant with the Miami Marlins since 2020.


Florida Complex Coordinator - Greg Brodzinski -  served the last three seasons as BlueClaws manager - served in 2022 as bench/third base coach for AAA Lehigh Valley -prior to that spent two seasons as a bullpen catcher/catching coach with the major league team. He had previously coached at Williamsport and Reading. Greg was drafted by the Phillies in the 18th round of the 2015 draft. He played one season before switching over to coaching for the 2016 season.


Defensive Coordinator - Infield - Adam Everett - fifth season with the Phillies as Infield Coordinator, played shortstop in the majors for 11 years with Houston, Minnesota, Detroit and Cleveland. Began his coaching career in 2014 with Houston and stayed with them till 2017 before moving to the Atlanta Braves and serving as their Minor League Infield Coordinator thru the 2019 season.


Defensive Coordinator - Outfield - Andy Abad - begins his 17th season with the Phillies organization as a coach, spent a good chunk of the 2022 to 2024 seasons with the major league club coaching outfielders. He played 15 games in the major leagues with the A’s, Red Sox and Reds and 14 years in the minor leagues with six organizations.


Defensive Coordinator - Catching - Joe Mangiameli - third season as Coordinator - hired in November of 2023, was a volunteer assistant at Sacred Heart University (CT) in 2023. From 2020 to 2022 was a catching instructor in the Minnesota Twins organization working at the AA level. Coached at Eastern Connecticut State University 2015 to 2018 and at Quinnipac University in 2019.


Baserunning Coordinator - Gary Cathcart - begins his fifth season with the Phillies as base-running Coordinator, was selected by the Yankees in the 33rd round of the 1984 draft and played five seasons in the minors, all in the Yankees organization as an outfielder. After initially coaching in independent and college baseball he joined the Blue Jays in 2003 as their hitting coach for Advanced A level Dunedin. He stayed with the Blue Jays organization thru the 2009 season and worked his way up to Manager of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats his last two seasons with them. In 2010 he joined the Washington Nationals organization and managed in their system thru the 2015 season, in 2016 Cathcart moved to the Miami Marlins initially as their outfield and base running coordinator, eventually becoming the Minor League Field Coordinator, dual roles he maintained thru the 2017 season.  The Tigers hired him the next year and he worked for them thru 2021 serving as the manager of the Tigers East squad in the Florida Complex League.


Special Assistant to Player Development - Juan Samuel - played sixteen years in the major leagues from 1983 to 1998 with the Phillies, Dodgers, Royals, Blue Jays, Tigers, Mets and Reds. Managed and coached at various levels with the Phillies, Tigers, Mets and Orioles (major league manager).  Is a member of the Phillies Wall of Fame, a three time major league all-star and a silver slugger award winner(1987).


Rehab Coordinator - Brittany Gooch - has been with the organization since February of 2022 initially as a Physical Therapist - promoted to current role in November of 2023 - holds a doctorate in physical therapy from Gordon E Inman College of Nursing and a Bachelor of Human Environmental Sciences degree in Food and Nutrition from the University of Alabama.


Mental Performance Scouting and Rehab Coordinator - Traci Statler - holds a doctorate degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Utah - joined the Phillies organization in June of 2022. Previously was an Associate Professor of Applied Sport and Performance Psychology at California State University, Fullerton and the Associate Director of Graduate Studies.


Baseball Development :


Director, Baseball Development - Ben Werthan - promoted to his current role in November of 2022, he was hired by the Phillies prior to the 2018 season and spent four years as the club’s minor league player information coordinator. Prior to joining the Phillies he worked seven seasons (2011-17) with the Baltimore Orioles, including six as the advance scouting coordinator.  Holds a bachelors of art degree from Dickinson College in Psychology.


Minor League Video and Technology Coordinator - Candra Pepper - joined the organization in December of 2022 - previously served as a development intern with the Mariners, before that as an Associate in Major League Advance Scouting with the Tigers. Has a BA degree in communications from University of Massachusetts - Amherst.


Minor League Video and Technology Coordinator - Teresa Cardamome - hired by the Phillies in November of 2024 - has served as a video/player development intern with the Twins, Mariners and Royals since 2021. Graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University in Business Management and a masters in Kinesiology, Sports and Recreation.


Medical & Nutrition:


Medical Coordinator - Justin Ahrens - in his fifth year in the role - holds a Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University - has an extensive background in athletic training both at the collegiate level and in professional baseball having worked previously with the Pirates, Twins and Athletics organizations.


MILB Medical Operations Liason & PDC Athletic Trainer - Troy Hoffert - has served in this role since it’s inception - has been with the Phillies since 1992 serving as a trainer at multiple affiliates over the years, a long time trainer of the GCL/FCL Phillies.  A graduate of Salem State University with a masters degree from Temple University in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine.


Life Skills and Education :


Director, Mental Performance, Life Skills and Education - Ceci Craft - has served in her current role since October of 2022.  Previous experience as a Mental Performance Coach with the Cleveland Guardians from 2014 to 2020. Holds a masters degree in Applied Sports Science from the University of Wales.


Assistant Director - Life Skills & Education - Colleen Mitchell - joined the organization in August of 2024 after working for the Miami Marlins from 2018 to 2024 in various roles - her last being Manager of Education and Player Care. Holds a master of education degree in Positive Coaching and Athletic Leadership from the University of Missouri - Colombia.


Lead Teacher - English Language Learner Program - Isa Karay - has been in the role since May of 2023 - was a math teacher in the Pinellas County Schools from 2019 to 2023 and in Pasco County prior to that from 2017 to 2019. Holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Florida State University in Family and Child Sciences.


Lead Teacher - Life Skills & Education - Paola Mora - has been in the role since February of 2023 - was previously a teacher at Vierra High School and a Spanish teacher at Seminole County Virtual Franchise. She has nineteen years of teaching experience and holds a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University.


Mental Health :


Director, Mental Health - Deanna Nobleza - has served in her present role since February of 2023. Previously was a Clinical Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University for thirteen years. Holds a doctor of medicine degree from Rutgers Medical School in Psychiatry.


Mental Health Counselor - Antonio Cordero - joined the Phillies in 2024 - earned a masters degree in counseling psychology with a specialization in sports psychology from Boston University and interned at MIT.


Affiliates :


AAA Lehigh Valley IronPigs :


Manager - Anthony Contreras - returns for 5th consecutive season with Lehigh Valley - previously served as Manager of the Fort Wayne Tin Caps for six years and is the all time wins leader for the High A Affiliate of the San Diego Padres. In 2014 he managed the Arizona Complex team for the Padres, the following year he was at the helm of the short-season Tri-City Dust Devils. Contreras played nine seasons of minor league baseball after being drafted in the 9th round of the 2005 draft by the Giants, he moved to the Padres organization in 2008 and played thru the 2013 season finishing with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League. He was primarily a middle infielder seeing most of his action at second base and shortstop.  Contreras managed the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League for the 2021 season.


Bench Coach - Chris Adamson - third straight season with Lehigh Valley - served as Bench Coach with Jersey Shore in 2023 (was manager in 2021) after managing the FCL Phillies in 2022.  He’s also the current skipper of the Adelaide Giants in the Australian Baseball League.


Pitching Coach - Phil Cundari - fourth year with the Phillies, second straight with LHV, was Reading pitching coach last season and Jersey Shore pitching coach in 2023. Previously with the Blue Jays where he served the two seasons (2021-2022) as Pitching Coach for the Vancouver Canadians -  Toronto’s High A affiliate. Prior to that he was pitching coach at Rutgers from 2018 to 2019 and spent the previous 17 seasons on the staff at Seton Hall as Pitching Coach and Associate Head Coach. Cundari was drafted in the fourth round by the Oakland Athletics in 1985 and pitched four seasons in the organization, reaching as high as the AA level in 1987 before his career was cut short by an arm injury.  Off the baseball field he runs his own private practice as a sports performance consultant - is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in peak performance and mental toughness training for athletes of all levels.


Assistant Pitching Coach & Coordinator - David Howell - second year in the organization last season worked at the complex as a pitching strategist and coordinator - previously with the Toronto Blue Jays as major league Assistant Pitching Coach - Strategy. He was charged with helping with day to day operations, addressing issues with pitchers and coming up with avenues to fix them using a blend of technical methods and hands-on experience. He served in that role for three seasons. With the Phillies he will help players break down the information they’re getting from video and technological analytical systems. Prior to joining the Blue Jays organization he was an intern at Driveline and then the Director of Player Development, Director of R&D and Assistant Pitching Coach at LSU.


Hitting Coach - Adam Lind - this is his third year as a professional coach, was the hitting coach for Jersey Shore in 2024 - played twelve years in the major leagues with the Blue Jays, Nationals, Mariners and Brewers from 2006 to 2017.  Hit 200 career home runs and posted a career .272/.330/.465 slash line in 5,029 plate appearances. He was a first baseman, left fielder and DH - retired as a player after the 2018 season.


Position Coach - Ray Ricker - will be his first year at  Lehigh Valley after serving past two seasons as a Florida Complex Coordinator - served at Reading in 2023 as a position coach - coached with Clearwater in 2022 - served as an FCL Phillies coach in 2021. He was the head baseball coach at Post University from 2014 to 2020 and served seven years prior to that as an assistant coach.


Athletic Trainer - Andrew Dodgson - fourth season with the IronPigs, served at Reading for the 2022 season - was the trainer for the Jersey Shore Blue Claws from 2020 to 2021, two years before that served in the same capacity with the GCL Phillies in Clearwater.


Athletic Trainer - Keita Isaji - second consecutive year at LHV - was with Jersey Shore in 2024- joined the Phillies in 2023 and worked with the FCL team, came from Middle Tennessee State University where he served as Athletic Trainer.


Strength and Conditioning Coach - Bruce Peditto - second consecutive year with LHV - spent the prior two seasons at Reading - previously served as strength and conditioning coach for Lakewood/Jersey Shore from 2019 to 2021. Bruce has been with the Phillies organization since 2017 and is a graduate of Desales University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sports and Exercise Science.


AA Reading Fightin’s  :


Manager - Al Pedrique - his fourth consecutive season with Reading and the Phillies - he was the third base coach for the Miami Marlins on Don Mattingly’s staff in 2022 - “After his playing career ended spent several seasons as a minor league coach and manager. He managed the 1995 Spokane Indians, 1996-1997 GCL Royals, 1999-2000 Michigan Battle Cats, 2001 El Paso Diablos and 2002-2003 Tucson Sidewinders. He served as a coach with the Arizona Dbacks in 2004 before being promoted to interim manager in mid-season. After the 2004 season, he joined the Astros organization and worked in the team's front office as a special assistant to the general manager. He was the director of Latin American operations in 2007. In 2009 he became the Astros' minor league field coordinator. Pedrique was a coach for the Astros from 2010 to 2012 then returned to the minors as manager of the Charleston River Dogs in 2013. He managed the AAA affiliate (Scranton Wilkes Barre) of the Yankees in 2016 and 2017, leading them to the AAA national title the first year and the league finals the second. In 2018 he returned to the majors when he was named first-base coach of the Athletics after having been considered for several managerial openings that off-season. In 2020, he switched to the third base coach position. In 2021, he was back managing in the minors, with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp ( Marlins ).” - Baseball Reference


Bench Coach - Marty Malloy spent past six seasons as Manager at Clearwater where he managed seven years in total (2019, 2021-2025). He became a coach with the Gulf Coast League Astros in 2013 then managed the same club in 2014-2016. He moved to the Phillies organization as manager at Lakewood in 2017 and managed there thru the 2018 season. After managing the Threshers in 2019 was named the organization’s Infield Coordinator in 2020 and served as such until being needed at the helm of the Threshers again mid season 2021. He played 35 games in the big leagues with Atlanta (1998) and the Marlins (2002) and twelve seasons in the minors with the Braves, Tigers, Reds, Dodgers and Cardinals organizations primarily as a middle infielder. Also managed in the Arizona Fall League in 2023.


Hitting Coach - Jeff Livesey - first year with the Phillies - a veteran coach who was the hitting coach for the Nationals AA affiliate in Harrisburg the last two seasons. Prior to joining the Nationals he spent the previous four seasons (2020-23) as Miami’s Minor League hitting coordinator. He coached 16 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, including five seasons on their Major League staff from 2014-18. Livesey also worked in Japan as the bench coach for the Hiroshima Carp and the Rakuten Eagles. He played eight professional seasons in New York’s (AL) Minor League system before joining the coaching ranks in 1996.


Pitching Coach - Brad Bergesen - returns to Reading for second consecutive season after serving as pitching coach at Jersey Shore in 2024 - previously was PC at Reading in 2021 and 2023 after spending 2022 with Jersey Shore - Bergenson coached at Lakewood in 2018 and in Clearwater in 2019. He was drafted by the Orioles in the 4th round in the 2004 draft and pitched parts of four seasons in the major leagues with the Orioles and Diamondbacks from 2009 to 2012 appearing in 102 games. Finished his playing career in 2017 as a member of the Lancaster Barnstormers in the Atlantic League.


Assistant Pitching Coach - Alex Harter - first year with the Phillies - spent the last two seasons as a Houston Astros minor league pitching coach - last year with AA level Corpus Christie. Prior to beginning his Astros tenure at High-A Asheville in 2024 he coached at Middlebury College in Vermont and at his alma mater, the University of Findlay in Ohio. He is a former instructor at Driveline Baseball Academy and helped lead Middlebury to the New England Small College Athletic Conference championship in 2022, as well as a runner-up finish the following year. The Findlay, Ohio native was a four-year starting pitcher for the University of Findlay earning Great Midwest Athletic Conference All-Academic honors each season. Upon graduating with a Marketing and Finance degree, he served as the the team pitching coach in 2020 and 2021.


Position Coach - Nerluis Martinez - second year as stateside coach - last year was a coach with the Clearwater Threshers - spent the prior two seasons as manager of the Phillies Red team in the DSL - was a player/coach with the Reading Phillies since 2019 becoming a full time coach in 2022.  Played for the Phillies organization in the minor leagues as a catcher from 2015 to 2018. Coached for Adelaide this off-season in Australia.


Athletic Trainer - Meag Flaherty - third consecutive year at Reading - served as Athletic Trainer with Jersey Shore in 2023 - was Assistant Athletic Trainer with Lehigh Valley in 2022 - was the Athletic Trainer for the Clearwater Threshers in 2021 and the FCL Phillies the year prior. Graduate of the University of Massachusetts - Amherst with a Masters of Science in Athletic Training from Bridgewater State University.


Associate Athletic Trainer - Cayla Williams


Strength and Conditioning Coach - Dan Donohoe  - hired in October of 2025 he previously worked for the Marlins, Reds and Padres as a strength and conditioning coach after interning with the Diamondbacks. Graduated from Concordia University in Chicago with a Masters degree in Applied Exercise Science after earning his Bachelors degree from the University of Tampa.


High A Jersey Shore  Blue Claws :


Manager - Mycal Jones - first year as a Manager - was the bench coach at Reading in 2025 - prior to that served two seasons with Clearwater as a bench coach - in 2022 was with Reading as coach -  was drafted by the Braves in the fourth round of the 2009 Draft and spent seven seasons in the minors and another in independent ball prior to becoming a minor league coach with Houston in 2018. He was scheduled to be a coach for the Threshers in 2020 before the season was cancelled. He split time with the Threshers and the FCL Phillies in 2021.


Position Coach - Orlando Munoz - third consecutive year with Jersey Shore - has been with the organization since 2017, managed the Phillies White team in the Dominican Summer League from 2017 to 2019 and 2021 to 2023. A former infielder who played six seasons in the California Angels system, Muñoz coached and managed for 20 years in the Venezuelan Winter League and Italian Baseball League from 1997-2016, prior to joining the Phillies. Was named the 2021 John Vukovich Award winner.


Hitting Coach - Darnell Sweeney - first year at Jersey Shore - spent last season as a coach with the FCL Phillies - joined the organization as an FCL coach in July of 2024 - played in the major leagues with the Phillies (2015) and Blue Jays (2018) and multiple seasons in the minors with the Dodgers, Pirates, Reds, Blue Jays, Phillies and a Reds as well as in multiple independent leagues - retired from playing in 2024 - was the Dodgers 13th round draft selection in the 2012 draft from the University of Central Florida.


Pitching Coach Ryan Buchter - second season at Jersey Shore - last year was the pitching coach at Lehigh Valley after serving as bullpen coach with the IronPigs in 2023 - played seven seasons in the major leagues (2014 thru 2021) with the Braves, Padres, Royals, A’s, Angels & Diamondbacks. He pitched in 285 major league games (236.1 IP) posting a 17-6 record and 3.16 ERA as a reliever. He’s a graduate of Rowan College and Highland Regional High School in New Jersey and was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 33rd round of the 2005 draft.


Position Coach and Assistant Hitting Coach Ryan Wrobleski - was the 20th round draft selection as a catcher of the Houston Astros in the 2022 draft from Dallas Baptist. Played four years of minor league baseball before being released on 7/14/25. This is his first experience as a coach.


Athletic Trainer - Marissa VanHassel - was at Clearwater last season - prior two seasons in the DSL - began with the organization in March of 2023 as an Athletic Trainer Associate - hired as Dominican Academy Trainer in October of 2023 - graduated from the University of Georgia in 2021 with a BS degree in Athletic Training.


Strength & Training Coach - John Sweeney - returns to JS after serving last season at Clearwater - was at at Jersey Shore in 2024 and as Strength and Conditioning Coach with the FCL Phillies in 2023, previously worked as a trainer at Holy Cross University and Siena College.


Low A Clearwater Threshers  :


Manager Aaron Barrett - first year as a Manager - previous three seasons was Minor League Complex and Rehab Pitching Coordinator, served as Rehab Coordinator in 2023 - retired from play in 2022 with the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and served as bullpen coach for half that season. Played eleven seasons in professional baseball including parts of four seasons in the major leagues (appeared in 95 games - 74 IP with the Nationals).


Bench Coach - Shawn Williams - spent past three seasons as Manager of the FCL Phillies - spent the prior three seasons at the helm in Reading after guiding the Clearwater Threshers from 2017 to 2018. In 2018, the Threshers won the second-half title in the Florida State League North Division. Prior to his time in Clearwater, Williams also managed in Lakewood (A) for two seasons (2015-2016). He joined the Phillies player developmental staff in 2014 as a manager for Williamsport (A) - Williams spent the month of April as a fill-in bullpen catcher and also served as a player/coach for Williamsport in 2013. He spent four seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays minor league system as a utility player from 2007-2010. 


Pitching Coach - Matt Ellmyer - third season as a pitching coach with the Phillies - was at Lehigh Valley last year and Jersey Shore in 2024 - was an intern with the Phillies in player development in 2021. Has served as a pitching coach and coordinator for Cressy Sports since March of 2022 and was a pitching coach in the Texas Rangers system working at their complex from 9/22 to 10/23. Hired by the Phillies in November of 2023. Played collegiate baseball at Wofford College.


Assistant Pitching Coach - Alex Concepcion - pitched in the Phillies organization from 2005 to 2011.  Spent last season coaching the FCL Phillies and Clearwater - a very successful pitching coach since then in the DSL after playing career ended. Served as pitching coach for the 2025 Domincan Winter League Champions Leones del Escogido.


Hitting Coach - Chris Heinz - begins his tenth year with the Phillies, fourth consecutive as Clearwater hitting coach. For the prior three years he served as the system’s assistant hitting coordinator. Was on the Threshers and FCL staff prior to that. Played in the Twins organization from 2003 to 2007 and coached for them in the minors in 2009 before joining the University of South Florida as an assistant coach in 2010 where he served for five seasons.


Position Coach and Assistant Hitting Coach - Desmond Jennings - second consecutive season at Clearwater - played in the major leagues for the Tampa Rays from 2010 to 2016 and for the Reds and Mets in the minors as well as in the Mexican League - last playing season was 2018. He is the owner of the Desmond Jennings Athletic Academy in Birmingham, Alabama. Was the Rays 10th round draft selection in the 2010 draft from Itawamba Community College in Mississippi.


Athletic Trainer - Sarah Binkley - worked last season at Reading as Assistant Athletib Trainer - previously was a seasonal athletic trainer with the Orioles 2023 to 2024. Holds an Athletic Trainer degree from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Is from Bethany Beach, Delaware.


Strength & Conditioning Coach - Joseph Miranda - returns to Clearwater after serving last season with Jersey Shore - was at Clearwater in 2024 - joined the Phillies in January of 2023 - previously had been a strength and conditioning coach with the Marlins, Reds and Red Sox organizations and was a Physical Performance Coach with the Rockies organization prior to that - holds a Masters degree in exercise science from George Washington University.


Phillies Development Center - Clearwater Complex :


Manager - Wilson Ramos - first year as a minor league manager - played in twelve major league seasons with the Twins, Nationals, Rays, Phillies, Mets, Tigers and Guardians as a catcher - posted a career .271 batting average with 136 home runs in 3,492 major league at bats over 990 games played. Retired as a player last summer signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Nationals. He expressed an interest in a career in coaching after he retired saying, "It's something I'd love to do. I know how to play baseball. I've learned a lot, and I know I can really help the young guys get the best out of themselves and move forward in this game."


Bench Coach - Roly DeArmas - begins his 40th year as a Phillies minor league manager/coach  - legendary Phillies coach/manager who also has served as bullpen coach for Team USA. He’s been in pro baseball since 1973 - first as a player for five seasons and since as a minor league Manager/Coach. He’s also coached in the Major Leagues with the White Sox, Blue Jays and Phillies. Tremendous baseball knowledge and a vital asset to the organization.


Pitching Coach Gustavo Armas - served last year at Clearwater - begins his fifth year as a coach and second  consecutive year as PC for the Threshers after working with the Phillies organization in 2021 as a video coordinator in Clearwater. He played six seasons (2014 - 2019) in the Phillies minor leagues as a pitcher reaching double A Reading in 2019.


Hitting Coach - Rafael Delima - fifth consecutive season with the FCL Phillies - became manager of the VSL Phillies when the club was formed in 2005; he had already been coordinating the Venezuelan academy for several years. Came stateside to coach for Williamsport (2012), the GCL Phillies (2013-2019) and the Jersey Shore Blue Claws in 2021.


Hitting Coach - Joel Chimelis - first season with the Phillies - veteran coach who worked with the Los Angeles Angels organization the past two seasons - last year at AA level Rocket City and in 2024 for AAA Salt Lake. Prior to that he was the Mets AAA hitting coach for four seasons, with the Astros organization at various levels from 2006 till 2017 and with the Washington Nationals organization from 2004 to 2005. He had a 15-year professional playing career that began as an 11th round draft pick of the Oakland A’s in 1988, which included a 1991 season as a member of the Huntsville Stars. Chimelis also enjoyed a successful overseas career playing seven seasons abroad for leagues in Mexico, China and Korea.


Position Coach - Ruben Tejada - this will be his first venture as a coach - most recently played in the Dominican Winter League and Mexican League (2024-2025). Played in nine major league seasons with the Mets, Cardinals, Giants and Orioles from 2010 to 2019 as an infielder (SS,2B,3B) - finished with 2,396 career plate appearances and a .250 batting average. Played for eight different MLB organizations including the Phillies (2021 with AAA level Lehigh Valley).


Rehab Coach - Andrew Graham - first season with the Phillies - is from Australia - played with the Detroit Tigers organization from 2003 to 2007. Converted to minor league coaching in 2009 as catching coordinator for the Tigers, GCL coach in 2010 and then a long minor league managing career with the Tigers as well - Connecticut Tigers (2011-2013), West Michigan (2014-2016), Lakeland (2017,2019-2024) and Erie (2018, 2025). Was the 2023 Florida State League Manager of the Year.


Player Development Instructor - Sean Rodriquez - begins his fifth season as a coach at the complex - played in 13 major league seasons with six organizations including the Phillies.


Athletic Trainer - Dave Comeau - began in the role in November of 2025 after working with the Athletics, Yankees and Braves. Holds a Master of Science degree from PennWest California in Injury Prevention and Performance Enhancement. Earned his Bachelors degree from Endicott College.


Associate Athletic Trainer  - James Brucker - began in the role in January of 2026 after previously working for the Tigers and Tampa Bay Lightning. Holds a Masters degree from the University of South Florida in Athletic Training as well as a Bachelor degree in Health Science from there.


Strength & Training Coach - Andrea Ibarra - Andrea was hired by the Phillies in March of 2024 and was coach at the Dominican Academy the past two years - she has a doctorate degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Liberty University.


Strength & Training Coach - Carlos Monteagudo - third season with the FCL Phillies - holds a bachelors degree in sports medicine/athletic training from the University of Kansas and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.


Dominican Summer League Phillies Red  :


Manager - Felix Castillo - second year as a manager - was a Phillies DSL coach since the 2019 season. Played minor league baseball from 2010 to 2015 as a catcher.


Bench Coach Manny Martinez  - was hitting coach for Red last season and a coach for Phillies White in 2024 - hitting coach for Phillies Red in 2023, Manager of the DSL Mets from 2015 thru 2022 - played in three major league seasons in the 1990’s with the Phillies, Mariners, Pirates and Expos.


Hitting Coach - Guillermo Matos - joined the Phillies in December of 2024 - previously with the Yankees organization as a teaching specialist (2019 to 2024) at their Dominican Academy - played in the Yankees organization from 2009 to 2011 as a first baseman in the DSL.


Pitching Coach - Cesar Cabral - joined the staff in 2025 - last season as assistant pitching coach - was a pro left handed pitcher from 2008–2019 in the minor leagues, independent leagues and winter leagues - also pitched in the majors with the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles during the 2013 to 2015 seasons.


Dominican Summer League Phillies White  :


Manager - Waner Santana - third consecutive season as Manager - In 2010 was the strength and conditioning coach for the DSL Phillies. Served as manager of Phillies Red from 2017 to 2019 and again in 2021, was a coach in 2022 to 2023 for Phillies Red. Played minor league baseball in the Giants organization as a middle infielder from 2000 to 2002.


Pitching Coach - Carlos Hernandez - was pitching coach with Phillies Red last two seasons - pitched in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization from 2012 to 2018 reaching the A level of play.


Hitting Coach - Melky Mesa - second year as a Phillies White coach - played in eight games in the major leagues over two seasons with the Yankees (2012 to 2013) but had a long minor league career as an outfielder from 2006 to 2016 with the Yankees, Royals and Blue Jays. Played for Escogido in the Dominican Winter League multiple years - last season as a player was 2022 with York in the independent Atlantic League. Debuts with the Phillies as a coach this season.
