3/11/21 : Grapefruit League Game Eleven


Game Summary : Yankees 6 Phillies 1


Aaron Hicks led off the game for the Yankees with an opposite field home run to left field.


Luke Voit delivered an RBI single for New York in the third inning.


Andrew McCutchen singled to score Scott Kingery ( doubled ) in the third inning.


Aaron Hicks doubled to score a run in the fifth inning.


Chris Gittens hit an RBI single for NY in the eighth inning. Two more runs scored in the inning.


On The Hill :


Aaron Nola ( FB 92-94 ) went four innings ... 2 runs, 4 hits, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 61 pitches - 37 strikes


Sam Coonrad ( FB 96-98 ) yielded a run on two hits in one inning pitched.


Jo Jo Romero ( FB 95-97 ) faced the minimum of three batters in a scoreless sixth inning. He yielded a single but it was erased on a 6-4-3 double play grounder. He then struck out the next batter to complete the frame. 🔥


David Hale ( FB 92-94 ) threw a scoreless inning ... one hit and one HBP.


Michael Ynoa ( FB 94-96 ) went 2/3 of an inning ... battled control and was charged with 3 runs on 2 hits and a walk with one strikeout. He threw 25 pitches - 13 strikes.


JD Hammer ( FB 95-97 ) allowed two inherited runs to score. He was tagged for two hits and a walk in 1/3 IP.


Ramon Rosso ( FB 94-96 ) yielded two hits and a walk and struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth frame ... 21 pitches - 13 strikes.


At The Plate :


Andrew McCutchen had two singles in two AB’s. Scott Kingery doubled and Nick Maton singled.


Defensive Gem :


Andrew McCutchen threw out Luke Voit at third base in the third inning. Voit was attempting to tag from second base and move up on a fly ball. Andrew gave him the 🤷‍♂️afterwards 🤓.


Yankees pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga induced three ground balls back to him in the sixth inning completing a perfect inning with three 1-3 putouts 😳.


Matt Vierling made a leaping catch against the left field fence to end the ninth inning and rob extra bases 👏.


Phil-Ins :


Mini Camp players on the roster today included pitchers David Paulino, Tyler Carr and JD Hammer, Catchers Edgar Cabral and Logan O’Hoppe, Infielders Luis Garcia, Darick Hall and Bryson Stott and Outfielders Odubel Herrera, Matt Vierling and Johan Rojas.


Grapefruit League record is now 4-6-1

Phillies travel to Sarasota tomorrow to play the Orioles.
