Intrasquad Scrimmage :
Multiple players from big league camp participated in the scrimmage which began at 11:15 AM. I watched three innings of action before departing to the stadium to watch the Grapefruit League game. In the first inning the visiting squad scored three runs against lefty Kolby Allard. Casey Martin doubled which was followed by singles by Pierce Bennett, Ricardo Rosario (RBI) and Bryson Ware (two RBIs).
Johan Rojas led off the bottom of the first inning with a hard lined triple to the left center field gap against right hander Spencer Turnbull. Rojas scored on a ground out by Kendall Simmons.
In the second inning Gregory Soto threw a scoreless top of the frame with two strikeouts. Jeff Hoffman matched him with a scoreless bottom half of the inning. Seranthony Dominguez tossed a perfect top half of the third with two strikeouts. Orion Kerkering yielded a run in the bottom of the third - Johan Rojas lined a high slider for a hit to left field, Leandro Pineda singled and Brandon Marsh walked - a ground out scored Rojas.
At the Plate : what I saw in three innings
Johan Rojas - 2 for 4 with a single, triple and two K’s
Brandon Marsh - 1 for 2 with a walk and strikeout - played center field also
Rixon Wingrove, Pierce Bennett, Ricardo Rosario, Bryson Ware and Leandro Pineda singled
Darick Hall walked, was hit by a pitch and K’d twice

New York scored twice in the 8th inning on a home run by Oscar Gonzalez. The Phillies scored in the 9th inning - Aramis Garcia doubled and later scored on a sac fly by David Dahl.

Whit Merrifield and Aramis Garcia doubled.

Jim Haley re-signed as a minor league free agent a couple days ago - was waiting for the transaction to post but it hasn’t yet - nonetheless he signed and played today in the game. Welcome back Jim!

RHP Tyler Phillips and RHP Griff McGarry were reassigned to minor league camp.
RHP Michael Mercado was optioned to Lehigh Valley (AAA).
