Minor League Spring Training :
Mental performance, defensive drills, batting, side bullpens and weight training were the practice sessions of the day. There were also two three inning simulated games.
Batting Practice :
Micah Yonamine is having a very good hitting camp thus far, was tattooing the baseball again today in BP.
Side Bullpens :
Six pitchers threw side bullpen sessions on the seven mounds in front of the David Montgomery Training Center, pitchers who threw today - Andrew Baker, Griff McGarry, Francisco Morales, Jaydenn Estanista, Matt Osterberg & Estibenzon Jimenez
Simulated Games :
Roberts Field :
Pitchers : James McArthur ( 2 innings ), Alex Garbrick, Chase Webster, Carlos Francisco & Eiberson Castellano
My notes :
James McArthur was strong, had good break on secondaries and giddy up on the express. Alex Garbrick also pitched well in his inning. I continue to be impressed with Eiberson Castellano - big arm stuff and also has a slow hook that comes out of same arm slot.
Ashburn Field :
Pitchers : Wesley Moore, Malik Binns, Jose Pena, Alex McKenney, Andrew Walling & Cam Wynne
My notes :
Lefty Andrew Walling ( un-drafted free agent signed 8/1/22 from Mississippi State ) impressed, mid nineties fastball with swing and miss movement.
Malik Binns threw a perfect inning with one strikeout. He had really good command and snapped off a knee buckling bender to end the frame.
Lefty Wesley Moore struck out two of the three batters he faced. Jose Peña had good life on his fastball and produced a swing and miss strikeout with his splitter.
Malik Binns pitching to Justin Crawford
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
