Offense :
The Phillies had 12 hits and 2 walks in total
1B Darick Hall hit a two run home run in the 5th inning.
CF Simon Muzziotti stroked a run scoring ground rule double in the 6th inning.
RF Matt Kroon hit a two run home run in the 7th inning
Defense :
Johan Rojas tracked a ball effortlessly in center field early in the game - made what may have been a tough catch for others look routine.
Shortstop Luis Garcia made a nice backhand in the hole and a long throw to first to nab the runner and record the final out of the 8th inning. We’ve touted his defense ever since we first saw him on the backfields.
Today at the Complex :
I was only there an hour or so - came over to say hello to Manny Amador who is the Director of the Phillies Dominican Academy. I wanted to deliver a copy of the book “Life in the Minors” that I co authored with Larry Shenk before he returned to the Dominican - it’s a history of the Phillies minor leagues. Mr. Amador is featured in one of the chapters in the book. It was an honor to meet him. Thanks for Ray Robles for arranging that 👍.
Me and Manny Amador
While I was there I saw 19 year old lefty Jose Valadez-Acuna throw for the first time - he was tossing a live bullpen session on Carlton Field. Another young upside arm in the system to follow ! Jose was drafted in the 14th round of the 2021 draft out of high school in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
