Catcher Jordan Dissin - 22 years old - 2022 12th round draft pick - Saddleback Junior College, CA - played the majority of the 2024 season with High A level Jersey Shore - promoted to Reading on 9/6/24 for the last week of the season. Is an outstanding thrower - threw out 33 of 108 base stealers during the year. Offensively has pop (hit 9 home runs in 2024) - he had a very solid month of June hitting .300 with a .375 OBP showing the ability to get on base consistently - is a clutch hitter - drove in 41 runs - many in key game situations. Big frame who provides a good pitch target behind the dish, calls a decent game and has solid defensive mechanics. Played in the 2024 Arizona Fall League.
1B Keaton Anthony - 23 years old - signed as an un-drafted free agent on 7/18/23 - University of Iowa - winner of the 2024 minor league gold glove for first basemen - began the year with the Low A level Clearwater Threshers and was a key contributor to the team’s Florida State League first half championship run, he posted a .322/.446/.470 slash line in 44 games and a .916 OPS in 186 plate appearances with 10 doubles, 4 home runs and 21 RBIs drawing an equal amount of walks and strikeouts (28). On June 25th he was promoted to High A level Jersey Shore where he continued to rake - in 53 games (232 plate appearances) he had a .356/.418/.483 slash line with a .901 OPS - 10 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs and 45 RBIs with 21 walks and 34 strikeouts. Overall he hit .327/.414/.454 in 444 plate appearances with 20 doubles, 8 home runs and 67 RBIs - drew 50 walks and struck out just 68 times.
INF Bryan Rincon - 21 years old - 2022 14th round draft pick - Shaler Area High School , Pittsburgh, PA - spent most of the 2024 season at Carpenter Complex rehabbing from a hamstring injury (5/20 to 8/21). Played in a total of 35 games with Clearwater (rehab) and Jersey Shore - never got on-track from the injury time lost - played in 19 games in the Arizona Fall League - a total of 185 plate appearances for the year. He’s an excellent fielder at shortstop, has all the tools of a plus defender at the premium position. Offensively is a switch hitter who has strong bat to ball skills and a solid approach. He’s got pop, particularly from the left side - can turn on pitches as a lefty hitter, drives the ball. Has great energy and presence, really good eye-hand coordination and is baseball savvy.
INF Luis Verdugo - 24 years old - signed as a minor league free agent 12/12/24 - was in the Chicago Cubs organization prior to electing free agency. Known as a practical joker, he keeps teammates both loose and on their toes in the clubhouse - has a popular and outgoing persona. Hits left handed - reminds me a bit of former Phillies second baseman Cesar Hernandez in build, makeup and skill set.

Pitchers :
RH Nelson Alvarez - 26 years old - acquired in trade with Tampa Bay Rays 8/6/24 for cash considerations - was the New York Yankees 2019 13th round draft selection - University of South Florida - pitched in 11 games (15.1 IP) with Reading recording a 1.76 ERA with 21 K’s and 7 walks - was promoted to Lehigh Valley on 9/19/24 and appeared in one game striking out the side in a perfect inning. Overall for the 2024 season including his time with the Rays AA and AAA affiliates he appeared in 39 games (51.2 IP) with a 3.48 ERA notching 62 K’s while walking 29. He features a fastball/sinker (93 to 96 mph), slider, cutter and curve. Was a minor league rule 5 selection by Tampa from the Yankees in December of 2022. Has battled control issues at times - is a strikeout pitcher.
RH Daniel Harper - 25 years old - 2022 17th round draft selection - University of Kentucky - pitched at two levels in 2024 - began the year with Jersey Shore - promoted to Reading on 6/25/24 - appeared in a total of 44 games (51 IP) posting a 2.82 ERA with 61 K’s and 20 walks. Daniel’s fastball ranges from 92 to 95 mph - it has touched 98. He was a FB/Cutter closer at Kentucky, as a pro he’s incorporated a couple more pitches. Phillies Minor League Pitching Coordinator Travis Hergert told me this summer “Harper is a big arm that possesses a live fastball and hard slider. We leaned into a sinker that can show something going in to right handed hitters to open up options with the four seamer up and slider away. Along with cleaning up some ways he rotates to the plate, Harp was finally healthy and that helped his ability to bounce back from outing to outing and have his best stuff.” Daniel told me this summer that he uses a four pitch mix - “When I came to the Phillies in ‘22, I only threw a four seam and a cutter. Since then, I have added a slider as well as a sinker that opened new pitch sequences and parts of the zone that I wasn’t able to throw to before. I’m primarily throwing my four seamer, sinker, and slider but also mix in the cutter more when the situation calls for it. We always get post game reports so seeing 98 mph on there a couple of times has been awesome. In games, I try not to look at the radar gun as I just want to focus on getting the batter out. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that every now and then I will take a peak to see what I’m working with for that day.”
RH Jaydenn Estanista - 23 years old - fast ball range of 93 to 96 mph and touches 97 mph - features a four seamer, slider, cutter and curve. Jaydenn has always been a pleasant young man to chat with - he had a solid 2024 season - as a reliever pitched in 31 games combined for Clearwater and Jersey Shore, was promoted to JS on 6/20/24. In 53.2 IP he recorded a 3.52 ERA (3.18 in JS in 22.2 IP with 27 K’s and 10 walks) and struck out 71 batters while walking 31. He posted three saves in three opportunities with the BlueClaws. It was a nice bounce back year after having some struggles in 2023.
RH Gabe Mosser - 28 years old - signed as a minor league free agent 11/13/24 from the San Diego Padres organization - was drafted by the Padres in the 27th round of the 2019 draft from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. - He has spent his entire professional career in the Padres organization and appeared in 28 games (26 starts) last season at AAA level El Paso where he went 7-7 with a 5.40 ERA in 133.1 IP posting 103 strikeouts and 48 walks. In his career he’s appeared in 112 games (76 starts) and has a 4.45 ERA in 440.2 IP. He has yet to pitch in the major leagues. Mosser was born in Allentown, PA and attended Parkland High School where he earned all-state honors his senior year. He pitched four collegiate seasons at Shippensburg. His sinker will generally sit in the low nineties and he also throws a slider, curve and splitter. He’s known for a cool demeanor on the mound and as being a strike thrower who won’t beat himself, control of his pitches along with command.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
