3/21/21 : Grapefruit League Game Twenty


Game Summary : Tigers 5 Phillies 3


Andrew McCutchen and Odubel Herrera led off the bottom of the first with singles. Bryce Harper walked to load the bases. Alec Bohm hit a hard one hopper to second base that scored McCutchen and should have been a 4-6-3 DP but the Tigers first baseman missed the relay throw, Herrera scored on the error.


Akil Baddoo hit a two run home run for Detroit in the third inning.


Niko Goodrum hit a two run home run for Detroit in the fourth inning.


Darick Hall led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a double. Roman Quinn pinch ran for him and stole third base. Quinn scored on a groundout by Ronald Torreyes.


The Tigers scored a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Christian Stewart.


On The Hill :


Chase Anderson ( FB 89-94 ) went 3 2/3 innings allowing four runs on three hits. He threw 66 pitches - 47 strikes and k’d five batters while walking one.


Sam Coonrad ( FB 94-97 ) struck out the only batter he faced in the fourth inning to end the frame. He stayed in to pitch the fifth, no runs in 1 1/3 IP, 1 BB, 1 K.


Jo Jo Romero ( FB 94-96 ) pitched a perfect inning striking out two batters. Outstanding slider and changeup today for swings and misses. 💪.


Hector Rondon ( FB 93-94 ) tossed a scoreless seventh frame allowing two singles. He struck out one batter.


Bryan Mitchell ( FB 94-96 ) gave up a run on two hits in the eighth inning.


Ramon Rosso ( FB 91-94 ) pitched a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout.


At The Plate :


Both Bryce Harper ( three PA’s ) and Luke Williams walked twice and singled ( four PA’s ). Darick Hall doubled in the seventh inning.


Defensive Gems :


Left Fielder Andrew McCutchen made a sliding catch on a low liner to end the fifth inning.


Phil-Ins :


Mini Camp players on the roster today included pitchers Julian Garcia, Jonathan Hennigan and David Paulino, Catchers Edgar Cabral and Logan O’Hoppe, Infielders Luis Garcia, Darick Hall, Luke Williams and Bryson Stott and Outfielders Odubel Herrera, Matt Vierling and Johan Rojas.


Former Phillies rehab coach Ray Burris was in the house today, when the players noticed a group of them went to acknowledge the very popular Mr. Burris ... good dude.


Grapefruit League record is now 9-10-1

Phillies are back in Tampa vs the Yankees tomorrow ... 6:35 game time
