A short bus ride across the Courtney Campbell Causeway for the team today albeit multiple players drove themselves to the Yankees ST stadium in Tampa. I spent about an hour early this morning watching Coach Bobby Dickerson school infielders Ronald Torreyes and Darick Hall on ground ball fielding techniques on the half field. He’s a very direct communicator and it’s a baseball education to see him go thru the paces. I was the only person watching above the half field - John Middleton walked in and waved hello, I’m sure he doesn’t know who I am but it’s cool he waved, I couldn’t introduce myself as my voice has disappeared once again, not sure why but I’m down to a whisper once more 🥴. Matt Gelb also acknowledged me with a wave, thanks Matt !
Today’s Game : Yankees 5 Phillies 2
Pitchers :
RH Hans Crouse - 2/3 IP - 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 29 pitches - 15 strikes - 15 sliders ( 84-85 mph ) , 12 sinkers ( 91-92 mph ) , 2 change ups ( 86-87 mph ) - max velo - 92 - struggled finding a rhythm - his set in the stretch to me is borderline balk - a lot of movement - Balking Bob Davidson if he were umpiring wouldn’t approve 🤓.

Offense :
The Phillies scored two runs in the seventh inning - JT Realmuto doubled, Wendle Rijo pinch ran for him and scored when Didi Gregorius reached on an error. Luke Williams scored on a single by Yairo Munoz. The runs were scored against former Phillie RHP Reggie McClain.
Matt Vierling doubled in the sixth inning. JT Realmuto had two hits ( single & double ).
Defense :
CF Matt Vierling and RF Mickey Moniak had a miscommunication in the first inning on a fly ball to right center field and collided - the ball fell for a double after bouncing off Moniak’s glove. 1B Rhys Hoskins dropped a routine pop-up in foul territory in the second inning.
Hoskins made a nice diving stop on a hard grounder hit down the right field line in the 4th inning to rob Aaron Hicks of a double.
3B Nick Maton made a nice diving stop to record the final out of the eighth inning.
Grapefruit League Record is now 1-2-1 - tomorrow back at home vs Tigers.
After the game today, Phillies sent three to minor-league camp: Jhailyn Ortiz, Luis Garcia and Logan O’Hoppe.

At the Complex :
Didn’t venture to the Complex today, it’s difficult to go there and not be able to speak to folks so decided to skip it. I believe it was a light day of practice as it was a scheduled Camp Day. The Phillies and Blue Jays will play minor league games once again tomorrow at 1 PM - AA/AAA at the Complex, the two A squads at Dunedin.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
