Minor League Roundup :

Lehigh Valley’s season started last night - the other three full season affiliates will begin their years on 4/5/24.

International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 7 (1-0) Worcester 4 (0-1)

Allentown, PA  - Coca-Cola Park

Summary :

Worcester scored in the fifth inning on a walk, balk and single.  They scored another run in the seventh on a home run by Romy Gonzalez.   Two more solo home runs were hit in the ninth inning by David Hamilton and Gonzalez.

The IronPigs scored all their runs in the bottom of the ninth - Nick Podkul walked, Scott Kingery and Kody Clemens singled to load the bases.  Weston Wilson singled to score one run, Darick Hall singled to score two.  Aramis Garcia and Matt Kroon each walked to tie the score.  Rodolfo Castro hit a grand slam home run for the walk off win however Matt Kroon was ruled out for missing second base so in the books it counts as a three run home run.

On the Hill :  4 R, 4 H, 4 BB, 9 K’s

RH Tyler Phillips was very good - he pitched six innings allowing just one run on one hit and three walks while striking out six batters.  He used a five pitch mix with his sinker sitting in the 92-95 mph range.   Tyler McKay yielded a run in two innings of  work.  Andrew Bellatti was touched for two runs in one inning pitched.

At the Bat :  7 R, 8 H, 8 BB, 11 K’s

Weston Wilson was 2 for 5 (single & double).  Jordan Luplow doubled.  Darick Hall singled, walked and posted two RBIs.  Rodolfo Castro walked and hit a walk off grand slam home run.

I was told recently that my minor league roundups are useless and repetitive, I was considering not doing them however I like writing about the minor leagues so may continue to provide them, I’m an idiot that way I suppose 🤪.

Minor League Transactions :

Infielder Marco Soto was traded to the Texas Rangers organization in exchange for catcher Jose Godoy.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
