The break camp roster consists of 18 pitchers (3 IL), 3 catchers, 6 infielders and 5 outfielders.

Pitchers : 18 - 3 on IL

Starters :

Jean Cabrera (23 yrs old), Moises Chace (21 yrs old), Braeden Fausnaught (25 yrs old), Gabe Mosser (28 yrs old) and Griff McGarry (25 yrs old) are the likely initial starters. Cabrera and Chace are both on the 40 man roster and have strong promise. Fausnaught had a great spring camp as did Mosser who provides a veteran presence to the initial staff akin to what Robinson Pina did last season. Fausnaught has developed great confidence in his slider, his bulldog competitive approach is fun to watch. McGarry will return to starting pitching in an attempt to find the command/control that has been difficult to maintain for him thus far in his career, hopefully he can harness it. Eiberson Castellano (23 yrs old) returns after spending spring training with the Twins as a rule 5 selection - he will join the rotation in full starter’s capacity after he gets stretched out a bit.

Relievers :

The bullpen will have it’s share of high velocity arms spearheaded by twenty five year old Daniel Harper along with newcomers twenty six year old Travis Kuhn (free agent signing from Mariners organization) and Andrew Bechtold (28 yrs old). They combine with other high octane arms such as Gunner Mayer (24 yrs old) and Andrew Walling (25 yrs old)Extended inning hurlers such as Chuck King (27 yrs old), Jack Dallas (26 yrs old), Wesley Moore (25 yrs old) and Nelson Alvarez (26 yrs old) will provide multi inning coverage.

Injured List : 3

RHP’s Christian McGowan and Wen Hui-Pan are assigned to the roster but are working with the rehab team in Clearwater as is LHP Tristan Garnett.

Catchers : 3

Three solid receivers open the year as the backstops for Reading - Paul McIntosh (27 yrs old) was acquired from the Marlins as part of the Jesus Luzardo/Starlyn Caba/Maury Boyd trade. He played 2024 at the AA level in the Southern League where he showed a power bat. Caleb Ricketts (24 yrs old) returns to Reading for a second consecutive season, he’s battled injuries the past couple of years including some this spring - he’s now ready to go.  Andrick Nava (23 yrs old) also returns to Reading where he spent the latter part of the season last year, he’s come a long way defensively and has always displayed offensive prowess.

Infielders : 6

The primary starting infield seems likely to be 2024 gold glove winner Keaton Anthony (23 yrs old) at first base, Robbie Moore (22 yrs old) at second, twenty year old standout Aidan Miller at shortstop and twenty four year old Luis Verdugo (signed as a free agent from the Cubs organization) at third base. Trent Farquhar (24 yrs old) can play all four infield positions. Felix Reyes (23 yrs old) had a strong spring camp and is coming off an excellent winter season in the Colombian Winter League. He plays either first or third base. Aidan Miller will be one of the youngest players in the Eastern League, only Moore is a full season Reading returnee from 2024.

Outfielders : 5

The starting trio on most nights will probably be Leandro Pineda (22 yrs old) in right field (he can also play first base), Marcus Lee Sang (24 yrs old) in center and Hendry Mendez (21 yrs old) in left. Cade Fergus (24 yrs old) returns to Reading as a reliable fielder with pop capable of playing any of the three outfield positions. Elio Prado (23 yrs old) was taken in the December Rule 5 draft from the Orioles organization and is also a very capable defender in all three spots. Lee Sang will be entering his second opening day with Reading while the other four will be participating in their first at the AA level.

That’s the camp breakout roster - best wishes for a successful year all around.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
